Make a Difference in a Supportive Primary School

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We're recruiting on behalf of a welcoming mainstream primary school in Salford that is looking to appoint a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join its team.

The school provides a nurturing and well-resourced SEND provision, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), moderate to severe learning difficulties, and a range of additional needs. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide personalised academic, social, and emotional support, helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing one-to-one and small-group support tailored to individual learning needs.

- Supporting pupils with ASC, SEMH, communication needs, and additional learning needs.

- Using communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or other Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) approaches where appropriate.

- Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development.

- Supporting the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), behaviour plans, and therapeutic strategies.

- Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, therapists, and the wider support team to deliver high-quality provision.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

- Has experience supporting children or young people with ASC, SEMH, or complex additional needs.

- Demonstrates a calm, patient, and nurturing approach.

- Is confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation.

- Works well as part of a team and builds positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.

- Has the right to work in the UK and is available to work full-time.

The following are desirable but not essential:

- PECS, Makaton, British Sign Language (BSL), or AAC training.

- Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification.

- MAPA, Team Teach, or other positive behaviour support and de-escalation training.

What the School Offers

- A welcoming and well-resourced SEND provision within a mainstream primary school.

- A supportive, experienced, and collaborative staff team.

- Ongoing CPD and specialist training, including behaviour management and communication strategies.

- A rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children with additional needs.

What We Offer

- Competitive daily pay of £112.50.

- Free access to CPD and safeguarding training.

- Ongoing guidance and support from a dedicated education consultant.

- The opportunity to secure a long-term role with the potential for permanent employment.

Safeguarding & Compliance

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check (Child and Adult Workforce), satisfactory references, and compliance with current Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance and safer recruitment procedures. Overseas police checks may be required where applicable.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We act as an employment business in relation to this vacancy.
