Summary

Are you a hands-on engineering or production technician looking for your next role? We're recruiting on behalf of one of our specialist manufacturer clients, for a Workshop, Calibration & Testing Technician to join their team in South Shields.

This is a great opportunity for someone with mechanical/electrical assembly experience who enjoys variety — working across production, calibration, testing and quality within a well-established engineering environment.

What you'll be doing:

• Assembling, repairing, calibrating, testing and packing products to approved specifications and quality standards

• Interpreting engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and technical documentation

• Carrying out mechanical and electrical assembly work, including pipe bending, compression fittings, drilling and tapping

• Testing PCB assemblies and finished products, diagnosing faults and supporting root cause investigations

• Maintaining accurate ERP (Odoo) records, calibration logs and traceability documentation

• Supporting continuous improvement, ISO9001 compliance and internal audits

What we're looking for:

• GCSE/NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a mechanical, engineering or production environment

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and wiring diagrams

• Experience with pipe bending, compression fittings, drilling and tapping metal components

• PC literate, ideally with ERP/MRP system experience

• Strong attention to detail and a quality-first mindset

Desirable (not essential):

• Soldering experience (through-hole/basic SMD)

• PCB testing and fault-finding experience

• Experience in an ISO9001-regulated manufacturing environment

• Machine shop experience (lathes, pillar drills, bench grinders)

• Odoo ERP experience
