Summary

We are pleased to invite applications for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Neurosurgery at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, a leading centre of excellence in Paediatric Neurosurgical Care.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic senior Neurosurgical Trainee to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team.

We are really proud of our hospitals and facilities – we are the only Paediatric Hospital in the UK where all the services are located under one roof.

The Neurosurgery Service based in Bristol covers the West of England & the South West Peninsula, a population of 4.5 million people. It has an established Network within the South West and West of England and delivers the full range of neurosurgical procedures.

Bristol is home to one of only four English Children’s Epilepsy Surgery Centres. There is a regional complex movement disorders and spasticity MDT witha  Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy service and robotic Deep Brain Stimulation. We are the regional Paediatric Major Trauma Centre. There is a regional paediatric neurovascular service offering direct and indirect revascularisation procedures, as well as interventional neuroradiology investigation and treatment and gamma knife services. There is a strong regional paediatric neuro-oncology service, with availability of intra-operative MRI, intra-operative ultrasound, image guidance with Brainlab and Stealth, a neuromate robot, operative microscope, and CUSA.[JW1]

UHBW Gamma Knife has recently been commissioned as an ‘All Tiers’ provider.  As such we are now one of 4 UK national centres delivering gamma knife to all commissioned indications to adult and paediatric patients, including neurovascular disease.

We have over a decade of experience in using iMRI in paediatric units in the UK. We were the second children’s hospital in the country to routinely use this technology.

Bristol NHS Foundation Trust brings together more than 28,000 staff to deliver over 160 clinical services across thirteen hospital locations, operating from three main sites at Southmead, Bristol city centre and Weston.

With an annual turnover of 2.6 billion, we are now one of the largest NHS trusts in the United Kingdom.

Chaired by Ingrid Barker and led by Maria Kane as Chief Executive, Bristol NHS Foundation Trust aims to transform the way healthcare is delivered locally with a clear focus on making a difference for what we call our Four Ps:
