Job Overview

An NHS Trust is seeking a motivated and experienced Locum SHO in Surgery to join the surgical team for an immediate start. The successful candidate will provide high-quality clinical care to surgical patients and support the delivery of safe and effective services across a range of surgical specialties.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, investigate, and manage surgical patients under consultant supervision.

• Participate in daily ward rounds, patient reviews, and multidisciplinary team meetings.

• Support emergency and elective surgical services.

• Clerking and admitting surgical patients.

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

• Work collaboratively with consultants, registrars, nursing staff, and allied healthcare professionals.

• Participate in on-call rotas where required.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of surgical experience within a recognised hospital setting.

• Previous NHS experience preferred.

• Ability to cover:

o General Surgery

o Urology

o ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat)

o Trauma & Orthopaedics (T&O)

• Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise.

• Valid Right to Work in the UK.

• Up-to-date mandatory training and occupational health clearance.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable Criteria

• Previous experience working within NHS surgical departments.

• ALS certification.

• Experience managing acute surgical admissions and ward patients.
