Job Overview
An NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated Locum SHO in Emergency Medicine to join a busy and dynamic Emergency Department for an immediate start. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care, assess and manage acute presentations, and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
• Assess, investigate, diagnose, and manage patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
• Undertake initial patient assessments and formulate management plans.
• Perform clinical procedures within competency level.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Escalate complex or critically ill patients to senior clinicians appropriately.
• Participate in ward rounds, handovers, and departmental meetings as required.
• Work effectively alongside consultants, registrars, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
• Ensure compliance with NHS clinical governance and patient safety standards.
Essential Requirements
• Full GMC Registration with licence to practise.
• Minimum 6 months NHS experience in Emergency Medicine or Acute Medicine.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification – Mandatory.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Requirements
• Previous Emergency Department experience at SHO level.
• ATLS/APLS certification.
• Familiarity with NHS systems and clinical pathways.
