Summary

Location of Role: - Hythe, Kent – CT21

Description / Details of the Role:

We are looking for a compassionate, patient, and experienced Personal Assistant to support our son through his Direct Payments package.

The role will primarily involve providing support within the family home, helping him develop his independence, communication, and daily living skills. A key long-term goal is to build his confidence to gradually access the community, following an agreed plan and at a pace that is appropriate for him.

The successful applicant will provide consistent, person-centred support and work closely with the family to follow strategies recommended by the professionals involved in his care.

Key main tasks:

• Provide personal care (including toothbrushing, toileting, dressing, and eating)

while promoting dignity, choice, and independence,

• Support with daily routines and activities within the home.

• Implement strategies and recommendations provided by the Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and Behaviour Specialist.

• Support the development of communication, emotional regulation, and independent living skills.

• Use positive behaviour support approaches to respond appropriately to distressed behaviour.

• Encourage confidence and gradually support community access in line with his personalised plan.

• Maintain a calm, consistent, and supportive approach at all times.

• Communicate effectively with the family regarding progress and any concerns.

Hourly rate of pay: £15.07 per hour

Hours available: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, two days per week (18 hours) + holiday cover.

Induction and Support - The successful applicant will initially work alongside experienced Personal Assistants to learn our son's routines, communication style, support needs, and the strategies that help him succeed. A supported induction and ongoing guidance will be provided.
