General Farm Worker - Beef and Arable - South West Scotland + £14.00–£15.00 ph + Accommodation + Benefits

The Job:

An opportunity has arisen for a General Farm Worker to join a progressive mixed beef and arable enterprise in South West Scotland. This is a varied, hands on role suited to an enthusiastic all rounder looking to be fully involved across both livestock and arable operations. Working as part of a small, supportive team you will assist with the day to day running of a suckler herd and finishing unit, alongside supporting the arable enterprise throughout the seasons.

Key responsibilities:

- Assisting with all aspects of stock work

- Supporting the main stockman, particularly during calving

- Routine treatments and vaccinations

- Weighing and sorting cattle

- Identifying and treating sick or lame animals

- Feeding and bedding cattle

- Round baling

- Hauling grain from the combine

- Rowing up straw and carting bales during harvest

- Mowing and hauling during silage season

- Slurry spreading (tanker work)

- Rolling

- Telehandler operations

The Candidate:

- Previous livestock experience (beef preferred)

- Confident and competent tractor driver

- Full UK driving licence

- Hard working, reliable and enthusiastic

- Able to work independently and as part of a team

Candidate Requirements

All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
