Summary
Job Title: Practitioner – St Ninian's Kids Club
Location: EH7 6JA
Hours: Term-time after school hours
Hours: 18 hours per week (term-time only)
Monday–Thursday: 2.30 pm – 5.30 pm
Friday: 11.30 am – 5.30 pm
Salary: Starting @ £13.50 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications).
Annual Leave: 5.6 weeks paid holiday entitlement (pro rata). Option to spread salary payments evenly across the year.
Are you a creative, enthusiastic and reliable childcare professional who enjoys helping children have fun, build friendships and develop new skills?
We are looking for a motivated Childcare Practitioner to join our friendly After School Club team, supporting children aged 4–14 years. The successful candidate will be someone who is passionate about childcare, enjoys creating fun and engaging experiences for children and wants to be part of a supportive team.
This role would suit someone who is confident in their childcare practice and is looking to develop further by taking on additional responsibilities within the club. For the right candidate, there may also be opportunities for additional hours, including supporting with administration and the organisation of the service, depending on experience, skills and the needs of the club.
The successful candidate will help create a welcoming and enjoyable environment where children can relax, play, build friendships and take part in activities they enjoy. They will work alongside the team to plan and provide a range of activities that support children’s confidence, creativity, independence and wellbeing.
The successful candidate will support the day-to-day running of the After School Club, working alongside the Manager and wider team to provide high-quality childcare and positive experiences for children.
Key responsibilities will include:
Providing warm, caring and responsive support to children attending the club.
Planning and delivering fun, creative and age-appropriate activities.
Supporting children’s confidence, independence, friendships and wellbeing.
Building positive relationships with children, parents/carers and colleagues.
Supporting children’s individual needs and ensuring all children feel included and valued.
Bringing ideas and enthusiasm to develop activities and experiences within the club.
Supporting the smooth running and organisation of the club.
Taking initiative and supporting colleagues when required.
Supporting safeguarding, child protection, health and safety procedures.
Maintaining appropriate records and documentation to support good childcare practice.
Taking responsibility for personal learning and development through training, feedback and continuous professional learning.
The successful candidate will contribute to a service that reflects the expectations of the Care Inspectorate, the Health and Social Care Standards and the SSSC Codes of Practice, while bringing a positive, fun and child-focused approach to their role.
