Job Summary
An NHS Trust is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Locum SHO in Obstetrics & Gynaecology to join the department on an immediate basis. The successful candidate will support the delivery of high-quality obstetric and gynaecological care, working within multidisciplinary teams under the supervision of senior clinicians and consultants.
Key Responsibilities
• Assess, investigate, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with obstetric and gynaecological conditions.
• Participate in antenatal, postnatal, labour ward, gynaecology ward, and emergency gynaecology services.
• Conduct patient clerking, ward rounds, discharge planning, and documentation.
• Assist in the management of patients in labour and provide intrapartum care under supervision.
• Attend outpatient clinics, theatre sessions, and emergency admissions as required.
• Participate in on-call rotas, including evenings, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
• Work collaboratively with consultants, registrars, midwives, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with NHS standards.
• Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and mandatory training activities.
• Ensure compliance with Trust policies, GMC guidance, and patient safety standards.
Essential Requirements
• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Minimum 6–12 months of NHS experience or equivalent clinical experience.
• Previous experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at SHO level is desirable.
• ALS certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Desirable Criteria
• MRCOG Part 1 or evidence of commitment to O&G.
• Experience working within NHS maternity and gynaecology services.
• Participation in audit, teaching, or quality improvement projects.
