He can walk short distances independently and he uses an attendant propelled wheelchair when outdoors. He can transfer with supervision in and out of a car and travel safely. My son requires supervision at mealtimes, and he needs assistance with pad changes, personal care, dressing, and medication. He mainly communicates using Makaton sign, a communication aid and he can use his voice to speak with support. The PA must be a driver and car owner with a large enough boot to transport my son’s wheelchair. My son likes watching football, going bowling, visiting places of interest in the community and he has a weekly swimming lesson.
