General Duties and Responsibilities NBThis job description is intended as a guide and is not an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities of this role, such duties may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the post or the level of responsibility entailed. 2.1 Act as Youth Justice Service (YJS) representative on the Youth Offender Panel Meetings and to assist panel members in translating assessments into effective and innovative contracts which are proportionate in the context of preventing re-offending and restorative justice. 2.2 Undertake recruitment, training, ongoing support and supervision of Community Panel and other YJS volunteers, and maintain contact with other YJS staff, Victim Support and other agencies as appropriate. 2.3 Engage, communicate with, and facilitate the involvement of victims, agencies, groups and other individuals to contribute to the Community Referral Order Panels. 2.4 To read, analyse and oversee Referral Order assessments and reports demonstrating the ability to analyse complex data, public protection, safeguarding and broader development issues; and liaise with the author and their manager where required. 2.5 Ensure adequate records are maintained to ensure and promote service development within legislation, National Standards and agency policies and procedures 2.6 Take all reasonable steps to ensure the safety and well-being of children, their families, victims and panel members at panel meetings and other activities involving volunteers. Carry out all duties in accordance with current health and safety legislation. To share information about children/children with other agencies, when appropriate, to manage risks to others, to safeguard them and promote their welfare. 2.7 Under management guidance and direction, develop, produce and periodically update practice and policy guidance and procedures relating to Referral Orders and to produce corresponding guidance for the public and other agencies. 2.8 Attend and contribute to meetings, seminars, training events etc. and represent the YJS at such meetings and contribute to the delivery of the full range of services for children, children, their families and victims, as outlined in the Youth Justice Strategic Plan for Birmingham. 2.9 Where necessary, responsible for researching and commissioning training providers within the allocated training budget. 2.10 Implementing systems for monitoring and reviewing Referral Order activity in Birmingham YJS, analysing and reporting on performance information and providing advice and support to the management team. 2.11 Ensure that equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice is a priority throughout the service and equality issues are consistently considered 2.12 To be effectively able to manage the resources and time of panel members and volunteers. To maintain records related to the admission and discharge for all patients and actively contribute to other systems where relevant. 7. To support the process for clinical decision making as part of the D2A (Discharge to Assess) pathways alongside the Integrated Coordination Hub. 8. To monitor planned admissions via tools such as the Transport Portal, close liaison with the transferring inpatient areas, escalating as required any changes or potential delays. 9. To check all non-emergency patient transport requests are made in advance of the date of discharge wherever possible. 10. To record all requests for internal bed transfers and ensure the Integrated Coordination Hub is aware of these. 11. To liaise with inpatient areas ensuring a timely response is provided for all aspects of support with discharge planning, referring to the appropriate teams as required; 12. Communicate effectively and appropriately, demonstrating professional behaviour always; 13. To ensure accurate reporting of any patient who is recorded as Ready for Discharge or well enough to transfer to another setting as part of their discharge pathway, to the Integrated Coordination Hub. 14. Attend the daily ward-based MDT meetings as required to provide timely and regular updates with progress against discharge for patients the postholder is involved with and confirm all admissions have arrived as planned. 15.
