A Vacancy at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The senior clinical fellow will work on the general obstetrics and gynaecology rota. This involves working a 1 in 8 on call rota on the senior registrar rota (ST6) comprising of 1 in 8 weekday nights (Monday to Thursday 2000-0830) and 1 in 8 weekends of days (Saturday and Sunday 0800-2000) and nights (Friday, Saturday and Sunday 2000-0830). They will also work 4 long days on Delivery Suite (08.00-20.30) per 8 week cycle. The day time duties will be on the senior registrar rota and will be tailored to the interests of the successful applicant. These will include antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology ward rounds, gynaecology and antenatal clinics, gynaecology theatres and elective caesarean section lists. It would be expected that the fellow would be given time for special interest sessions in their chosen field and would be encouraged to register for the relevant SITM. The daytime gynaecology cover is provided by acute gynaecology fellows who run the acute gynaecology unit between 0830 and 2100 daily. St George’s maternity unit has a strong track record of training in intrapartum fetal monitoring using a fetal physiology and the senior clinical fellow would be expected to attend weekly training sessions. Opportunities for special interest: There are opportunities to develops a special interest would exist in fetal monitoring, advanced labour ward practice, ambulatory and benign gynaecology, and medical education. The post holder will work closely with senior clinicians, nurses, operational managers, infection prevention teams, procurement specialists, user groups, contractors, consultants and external agencies to ensure projects meet operational requirements and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care. Candidates must have significant experience managing external consultants and contractors, including architects, quantity surveyors, structural engineers, building services engineers and specialist advisors. Experience of delivering mechanical, electrical and building fabric projects is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of quality assurance across all projects, undertaking inspections, audits and compliance reviews to ensure works are completed in accordance with contract requirements and technical specifications. They will identify defects, implement corrective actions and ensure that commissioning, testing, validation and handover processes are completed effectively. Experience of working within operational healthcare environments is particularly important. The post holder will frequently be required to coordinate works within occupied clinical and non-clinical areas, ensuring disruption to patient services is minimised whilst maintaining compliance with infection control, fire safety, health and safety and operational requirements. The ability to plan and deliver complex projects within live hospital environments is therefore essential. The role also requires strong people management and leadership capabilities. The successful candidate will provide professional guidance and support to Project Managers, Project Assistants and other members of the Capital Team, ensuring clear objectives, performance management arrangements and development opportunities are in place. Experience of line management and staff development is desirable. The post-holder will be required work with the Gender Affirmation Surgery team to work closely with colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team. They will be required to participate in audit, research and management of the service. Daytime activities (0800-1700) will be determined by the Gender Affirmation Surgery (GAS) clinical lead and will include operating theatres, outpatient clinics and inpatient duties. The post-holder will work under the guidance of the Urology consultants in the GAS team and will provide leadership and guidance to the training doctors on and ward nurses along the GAS pathways. The post holder will work within their competence and it is expected that they will continue to develop their professional expertise in general urology by continued professional development including personal study, attendance at courses and seminars. The post holder will take part in audit and will be a constituent member of the Gender Surgery MDT. The post holder will take part in clinical governance activities within the Trust and will have an annual appraisal. The post holder should possess a recognised medical degree and MRCS/ FRCS and will be experienced in urology, both in outpatient assessment of patients and operatively including endoscopic procedures and have a demonstrated interest in gender surgery.
