The successful applicant will need to be motivated, calm under pressure and have good organisational abilities and keyboard / computer skills. Previous experience in a similar role is desirable. The successful applicant will be involved in reception duties, such as using our computerised booking system to book patients in on arrival and the administration duties associated with preparing the department for clinics. Experience with children and an ability to adapt to a changing environment are essential. Although the home base of this post is Tinkerbell the staff member may be asked to support other paediatric areas as needed To deliver a high standard of nursing care to patients attending the Paediatric Outpatients Department and other children’s clinics within the Trust under the supervision of the nurse in charge. Following appropriate training and assessment perform clerical, reception and administrative duties using the Trusts EPR system to ensure the smooth running of all paediatric clinics. Participate in clinic preparation to ensure all information required at the consultation is within the clinical record and available to the clinician. Ensure all clinics are appropriately closed at the end of the clinic session and all onward referrals and appointments have been made. Following appropriate training and competency assessment perform clinical duties as directed by the nurse in charge such as blood pressure monitoring and phlebotomy for those children and young people attending the outpatient department. The post holder will provide patient-centred and compassionate care and will work as a member of a team that delivers clinical care under the supervision of registered nursing staff. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that patients are cared for in a safe environment and that their privacy and dignity is maintained at all times. You will be required to provide direct care and provide verbal and written reports, as well as to actively develop a relationship with patients and carers to ensure a positive experience for all. The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics. We are looking for Learning Support Assistants (LSA) to support learners through their educational, personal care and therapy programmes, ensuring student's health and wellbeing is maintained. As an LSA you will engage with students during lesson and break times, promoting their independence and communication as directed by the class Lecturer. You will support our students to gain self-confidence and independence through encouragement and reassurance, by supporting the students in accessing a range of home, community, work related and basic skills learning programmes. Key Responsibilities: Demonstrate the mentality that students can and do achieve. Follow instructions and guidance from the Classroom Lecturer to provide support for students reinforcing their learning and constant promotion of independence. As well as a complete understanding of destinations and targets. To encourage students in all areas of the curriculum, to progress to their chosen career destination, gain greater independence in the home and promote community-based learning. To positively support the health and wellbeing of learners by follow the guidelines for individual support, care needs and medical interventions (including basic first aid and administration of PRN medications (EpiPen, etc.). Follow the Health and Safety policy and procedures to ensure the safety of learners and staff at all times. Key Requirements: Experience of working within a team. Experience of working with or caring for children or adults who have barriers to learning and/or special educational needs. Must hold level 1 Maths and Level 2 English qualifications or be willing to enrol on a functional skills course within your first year of employment and complete the course within 2 years. Able to demonstrate a commitment to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults. Able to take responsibility for individual and small groups of students, with a range of needs, including behaviours of concern, in different settings.
