We seek an enthusiastic and self motivated person to join our forward thinking team. The post holder is expected to provide predominantly Otology services and to lead on the development of the Otology service. We are looking for a team player with an enthusiasm for teaching and training to join the team of Consultants in the Ear Nose and Throat Department of East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. The postholder will be part of the on-call consultant rota, which is 1:5 non resident and supported by both middle grade and junior on call tiers who undertake the 1stand 2ndon call management of emergency ENT patients. The surgeon will help to further expand our elective surgical services at Burnley General Hospital whilst also contributing to managing complex patients at Royal Blackburn Hospital. We are a highly motivated and cohesive team dedicated to providing an excellent service for our patients. The programme of support for each individual doctor will be flexible depending on his/her particular needs and experience. The successful candidate will be appointed on the new consultant contract which will consist of 10. Programmed Activities (PA’s). This will consist of 8.5 PA’s for Direct Clinical Care and 1.5 PA’s for supporting professional activities. The successful candidate will join a team of 6 consultants, mainly based at the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital but with some sessions at the outpatient department at St Peter’s Health Centre in Burnley and elective theatre suite at Burnley General Teaching Hospital. On call duties will be at Royal Blackburn Hospital. We have a strong emphasis on training and have a strong commitment to support, mentorship and development of all of our staff and have regular multidisciplinary meetings. The candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary team approach alongside medical staff, nurse practitioners, and allied health professionals. Clinical research, quality improvement and service development are actively encouraged. The post holder will hold regular independent outpatient clinics and will be responsible for formalising patient care pathways and responsibility for pre, post and perioperative care of patients undergoing surgery as well as provision of care for the in-patients. This involves care of adult and paediatric patients. The department is supported by the following : 1 Associate Specialist, 2 Specialty Drs, 1 ST3+ trainees and 2 MCH Trainee, 1 CT, 1 JCF, 1 FY2 trainee, 1 GPST and 1 FY1 trainee. With further support from 1 ACP and 1 Specialist Nurse. This role focuses on tracking and managing the referral and treatment process for cancer patients, ensuring that those referred under the Suspected Cancer Pathway are diagnosed promptly and that newly diagnosed patients begin treatment within national timescales- Cancer Guidelines V12.1. This post will be based within the Acute and Chronic Conditions Research Team (ACC Team), supporting research studies within various disciplines including but not exclusively, Anaesthetics, ICU, Surgery, ED/Trauma, MSK, Stroke, Diabetes, Dermatology and Cardiology. You will be working as part of our small, friendly team, responsible for identifying, recruiting and supporting patients throughout their research journey. The post is primarily based at Blackburn Royal Teaching Hospital. However, the post holder may also be expected to support trials at Burnley General Teaching Hospital and other Trust sites, to meet the needs of our patients and studies. Therefore flexibility is an essential attribute. Most of the research activity is undertaken Monday to Friday within normal office hours. However, research activity times may also vary and early starts (7:00 onwards) or late finishes (after 5pm) may be required to accommodate studies involving morning theatre lists & late running clinics. A vacancy has arisen for a motivated person to join the “Cold Prep Section” in the Catering department at University Hospitals Dorset. This is a very demanding job and requires a good level of physical fitness, flexibility, and good organisational skills. You should be able to work with minimal supervision on your own initiative in this busy location. Duties include, making sandwiches, salads, baguettes, Panini’s and salad bar preparation. In addition, some general cleaning is required and a possibility of helping on the patient production line. Due to working in the cold room, cold weather clothing will be provided including: Boots , socks, thermal garments, snoods and sweatshirts as required.
