The department consists of Eleven ENT consultants who cover all areas of ENT and is the only recognised head and neck cancer centre in Kent. The department and trust are expanding in conjunction with new Kent and Medway Medical School. The main department including a specialist ward, inpatients, outpatient, emergency care and the head & neck centre is based at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford while Kent and Canterbury hospital (KCH) provides a large number of outpatient clinics, day & 23-hour surgery and robotic head and neck surgery. We also provide a clinic at the Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother (QEQM) Hospital in Margate. As an ST1-ST2 you will be a key member of the ENT team at the William Harvey Hospital. The role is well supported by our middle grade doctors, specialist nurse practitioners and on-call consultants. As part of the team responsibilities include on-call duties (ENT only during the day with Maxillofacial cross cover at night) and the management of acute emergencies and referrals to the department. At times you will be expected to manage the ward and participate in the ENT emergency clinic which runs every morning with direct supervision and support from middle grade doctors and on-call consultants. There is ample time to attend theatre and outpatient clinics to further your own learning and development in ENT and the trainee feedback and both ST1 and registrar level is always outstanding. The role will provide any aspiring trainees with an interest in ENT a fantastic opportunity to develop their clinical skills and knowledge for future posts or training. On-call responsibilities include taking calls from A&E’s, GP’s, minor injury centres and ward referrals including KCH and QEQM. These referrals need to be triaged into those that need immediate review and management, which you will be expected to arrange and perform before organising on-going care or escalating as necessary. You will be joining a well established nursing team which currently includes seven experienced Advanced Breast Nurse Practitioners and twelve Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialists. The successful applicant will be instrumental in the provision of diagnostic, surveillance and follow up services, working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Ideally, the successful candidate will possess advanced clinical and communication skills and will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the issues related to breast disease. Whilst those who already have the requisite skills will be welcome to apply, further postgraduate and in house training will be available and the successful candidate will be provided with any educational support needed. There are several Nurse Led services provided by the nursing team. The ANPs are a vital member of the MDT and are pivotal in both the diagnostic services and follow up clinics.     Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Cancer Services office in maintaining accurate records of new and existing cancer referrals. Work within theCancer Two Week Wait office to efficiently schedule and book appointments for patients in accordance with Trust and National guidelines, while also demonstrating a target-driven approach towards the front-end of the cancer pathways. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring smooth referral management processes, supporting adherence to trust guidelines, and contributing to the achievement of cancer standards. Manage patient registrations and appointment bookings in the Two Week Rule office, ensuring timely scheduling for patients referred under the Two Week Rule for suspected cancer. This will involve mastering cancer Two Week Rule pathways for various tumour specificities, maintaining accuracy and efficiency in the registration and booking process. The department is very busy and the post would best suit someone with good organisational, communication and prioritisation skills. Post is for 37.5 hours per week and involve working at both Epsom and St Helier as and when required basis.     An exciting opportunity has become available to join Epsom and St. Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust as a rotational Band 5 Occupational Therapist. Occupational Therapy plays a vital role in the acute care setting, ensuring that patients experience a seamless and positive journey during their inpatient stay and beyond. Our Occupational Therapists collaborate closely with physiotherapy colleagues, the wider multidisciplinary team, and community partners. The team provides services across two hospital sites in a diverse range of clinical areas, such as respiratory, cardiac, elderly care, general medicine, renal and surgery.     Main Duties and Responsibilities: 1. To diagnose, advise and supervise the repair of faults in relation to Water Safety, associated engineering services, mechanical and plumbing installations (where appropriate), plant and equipment, to deal with new situations as they arise and to pass on complex technical knowledge to other staff, contractors, patients and visitors. 2. To be conversant in the use of all relevant tools, equipment and test instruments to meet the requirements of Standard Codes of Practice. 3. To understand and apply the principles of ‘Root Cause Analysis’ when attending to maintenance and repair tasks with the aim of implementing a Reliability Centred maintenance strategy at St. George’s. 4. To use computer based control and monitoring systems such as the TREND BMS to co-ordinate fault diagnosis of various building services installations, i.e. ventilation systems, hot and cold water services and Low Voltage electrical distribution systems. 5. Utilise, monitor, control and adjust the Building Management Computer System (BMS). To pro-actively monitor plant and equipment installed to provide a comfortable, safe environment for patients, visitors and trust employees and to seek opportunities to reduce energy consumption 6. Prioritise, plan and co-ordinate their own work activities and workload of all other lower grade staff of their core discipline to meet service requirements. To be able to work overtime at short notice if available to do so, depending on the needs of the Trust. 21.
