In this role, you will lead and coordinate the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care across the unit, while managing operational pressures within a busy critical care setting. You will take accountability for staffing, patient flow and risk management, ensuring safe and timely progression of patients from admission through to discharge. You will work closely with the Ward Manager, Matron, Consultants and wider multidisciplinary team, supporting service delivery and deputising for senior leaders as required. A key part of the role will include identifying risks, implementing timely actions, and contributing to ongoing quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. Our department provides care for 26 adult critical care beds (Level 2 and Level 3 capacity) and is recognised for its strong team culture, clinical expertise and high standards of care. We are proud of our outcomes, consistently performing strongly across ICNARC benchmarking, regulatory assessments and patient experience feedback. As part of Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we operate across multiple sites and serve a diverse population across Merseyside.
