This is an opportunity to join a clinical team at an exciting time of new development and investment in genetics services at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. The department is currently supported by 18 Consultants (12 honorary contract holders), up to 9 Specialty Trainees, 12 Genetic Counsellors and 3 Genomic Practitioners. There is a team of clinic appointment co-ordinators and a pre-clinic information service as well as a strong administrative support. In 2024-2025, 8,000 referrals were received. We are predominantly paperless and use integrated digital systems (Epic and PhenoTips). The service is located with the East Genomics Laboratory Hub. A Cambridge Children’s Hospital and Cancer hospital are being built, providing opportunities for collaboration. The post holder will provide, with Consultant and Genetic Counsellor colleagues, a general and cancer Genetics Service to Addenbrooke's Hospital and the East Anglian region, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and management of genetic disorders, provision of genetic advice to patients and their families, provision of clinical genetic advice to other health professionals and responsibilities for the proper functioning of the department. The Role We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivatedClinical Trials Data Specialistto be part of the cancer clinical trials team, which is part of the accredited Cambridge Clinical Trials Unit, to contribute to cancer research. We are looking for motivated candidates with demonstrable experience of clinical trials data managementin an NHS Trust, University, pharmaceutical company or CROwith exceptional attention to detail and experience of data capture tool/eCRF design. The Unit provides elective orthopaedic and emergency limb trauma care to the local population and the wider East of England region. We provide both general and specialist orthopaedic and trauma care. Specialist services include a dedicated Ponseti clinic, specialist neuromuscular and spina bifida clinics, limb deformity correction and a DDH clinic. We work closely with colleagues in paediatric neurology, rheumatology and radiology. We also have close links with the adult trauma and orthopaedic team. We actively participate in both national and local research projects. We are active members and the regional Paediatric T+O Operational Delivery Network (OPN) and lead the clubfoot subgroup. Outpatient facilities for Paediatric Orthopaedics are in Clinic 6. Fracture Clinics run from Clinic 1, where the plaster room is located. Some specialist clinics run in the Child Development Centre (CDC). Elective Paediatric Orthopaedic beds are provided on F3 ward. Most emergency admissions go to D2 ward. Children are admitted to PICU, HDU and NICU as clinically indicated. The department currently has 5 consultants, 1 clinical fellow, 3 residents, 2.4 FTE physiotherapists, 3 CNSs and 1 secretary. The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU/HDU) has 13 beds, it is the only PICU for the East of England covering a large geographic area. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating patient flow across Southampton Children's Hospital service, ensuring beds are used effectively and patients are moved safely and promptly to the most appropriate area of care. Working closely with the Emergency Department, Regional Hospitals and clinical teams to support the timely admission of patients alongside ensuring the most appropriate clinical areas used to support effective patient care. Maintaining oversight of bed capacity and anticipated demand, proactively identifying pressures and working with operational and clinical colleagues to resolve barriers to patient flow and support the delivery of safe, high-quality care. You will need to be a clear and Confident communicator with excellent attention to detail. Able to prioritise your own workload with minimal supervision and be able to deal with complex situations. These are 12 hour shifts with an hour unpaid for breaks to be taken throughout the day. Below would be the required shift pattern that needs to be covered with some room for negotiation.
