The post holder will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care through proactive administrative and clerical support, alongside a strong commitment to continuous service improvement. Working within a specialty clinical team, they will act as a key point of contact for all administrative aspects of patients’ pathways, ensuring patients are effectively tracked and supported from referral through to treatment and/or discharge. The post holder will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, provide cross-cover during team absences, attend regular meetings, and deliver comprehensive administrative support to consultants, including the effective coordination of clinical timetables. We are seeking a dedicated Advanced Arthroplasty Practitioner (Lower Limb) to join our Trauma & Orthopaedics team. In this rewarding role, you will work at an advanced clinical level, acting as a trusted point of contact for patients with lower limb orthopaedic conditions. You will independently assess, diagnose and manage care within outpatient settings, working closely with orthopaedic consultants and the multidisciplinary team to deliver seamless, high-quality care. You will guide patients through their treatment journey, from assessment and optimisation for surgery to follow-up and ongoing management, always placing patient wellbeing, dignity and understanding at the centre of care. The role offers the opportunity to lead clinics, contribute to service development and support audit, research and innovation. You will also continue your professional development while acting as a role model and source of expertise for colleagues across the team. The post is based at the Royal Derby Hospital, with occasional travel to community clinics across Derbyshire. Main duties include: • Delivering expert clinical care by assessing, diagnosing and managing patients with complex lower limb orthopaedic conditions using advanced clinical judgement and running autonomous outpatient clinics • Planning and coordinating treatment pathways, preparing patients for surgery, supporting shared decision-making and, where appropriate, listing patients for procedures. • Requesting and interpreting investigations, including imaging and blood tests, to guide safe and effective treatment plans. • Working closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide holistic, patient-centred care while recognising when to seek support or escalate complex cases. • Providing specialist advice and support to colleagues across the Trust and community, contributing to learning and service improvement. • Communicating sensitively with patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options and complex information with empathy and clarity. • Contributing to service development, audit and research to improve patient outcomes and shape future practice. • Acting as a role model, promoting professionalism, high standards of care and the Trust’s CARE values.
