Working closely with the ward host/hostess and housekeeper.     The Department of Gastroenterology in East Kent Hospitals is looking for enthusiastic new colleagues to join us on our journey into expansion and increasing subspecialisation. We currently provide a 7-day Consultant-led gastroenterology inpatient service on two acute hospital sites at Ashford and Margate, a site based 24/7 GI Bleed rota for the two main acute sites as well as specialist Nutrition, IBD, Hepatology, HPB, UGI Cancer, complex polypectomy services, ERCP, Bowel Cancer Screening and capsule endoscopy. Endoscopy Services are provided from the three main hospital sites in Canterbury, Margate and Ashford. We are looking for two newly created postholders to be based at William Harvey Hospital and be part of a team of 8 full time consultants (including these posts) based there as we look to expand our department and the services we offer. At the William Harvey Hospital the consultant team are supported by two IBD nurses, a hepatology nurse and UGI STT nurses who support the UGI cancer pathway. The post holder will be required to support the site-based GI Bleeding rota (1 in 8). During elective working weeks the post holder will be provide two OPD clinics per week (face to face and telephone) and two general endoscopy lists, plus a session dedicated to a specialist interest and/or leadership role. SPA will be allocated (1-2PA) to support revalidation, service development and supervision of trainees. Variation in this pattern may be negotiable depending on individual and departmental service requirements. The post holder may be expected to fulfil some of their elective clinical commitments on other sites in the Trust.
