    We are currently recruiting for a Senior Clinical Research Practitioner / Team Lead for the Gynacology Oncology Team. We are looking for candidates interested in building a career in research in one of the biggest haematology and oncology research teams in London. After completing a fully comprehensive induction package you will find yourself leading the co-ordination and set-up of a portfolio of clinical trials, identifying and recruiting trial patients, collecting and reporting data and supporting patients and their carers throughout treatment. Successful candidates will be excellent communicators with an eye for detail and a commitment to improving patient choices, care and outcomes. The post holder will be leading and managing a team of clinical research delivery staff and a portfolio of research studies with the responsibility for delivering high quality research and clinical care. This role will be a mix of clinical and managerial and the post holder will be required to effectively manage his or her time to fulfil key responsibilities such as reviewing protocols, identifying resource implications, actively participating in meetings, proposing action plans for poor recruiting studies, training, supporting and mentoring other members of staff, leading on service development and contributing to the research business plan, whilst autonomously managing a caseload of participants. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring excellence in research delivery and participant experience. As part of Kings Health Partners, the Oncology and Haematology Clinical Trials (OHCT) team is made up of fifty plus staff members consisting of Research Nurses, Clinical Trial Practitioners, Clinical Trial Coordinators and the Safety & Support Team at Guys’ and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. We work closely with the oncology and haematology medical teams to recruit patients to our trials and to ensure patients are monitored closely throughout. We have a large portfolio of Phase II and III trials; which are split into teams for specific tumour groups. We also have a team dedicated to early phase trials and run weekly early phase clinics in the Clinical Research Facility. We attract commercial and non-commercial trials, ranging from interventional drug or radiotherapy trials to observational studies. Our mission statement is ‘Improving treatment choice, clinical care and outcomes for cancer patients through innovation, dedication and excellence in clinical trials’. · Work autonomously to manage a large caseload of participants acting as a professional in ensuring a duty of care to the participants and their families. · Work within relevant regulations and ICH GCP (International Conference on Harmonisation and Good Clinical Practice) ensuring that the clinical research protocol is adhered to at all times. · Devise, implement and evaluate strategies to identify eligible participants for research studies, including by attending clinics, departments, screening notes/consultant referral and Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings. Support less experienced team members to implement those strategies. · Coordinate the research participant pathway from screening through to study closure. · Actively work to achieve study accrual targets including engaging with the research team and clinical teams to overcome barriers to participant enrolment. · Liaise with the clinical team to organise and ensure that study specific investigations are undertaken according to the protocol, obtain and document the results. · Deal with concerns raised by participants and visitors in a proactive manner and take appropriate remedial action as necessary. · Review study protocols and identify resource implications for the site. · Liaise with Clinical Trial Set Up staff to help assist in the set-up of commercial trials on site. · Supervise the research team in the collation of data generated from clinical studies. · Monitor patient recruitment and data collection week by week, reviewing recruitment figures and alerting the lead research staff and Principal Investigators to any problems with recruitment. · Act as a role model for excellence in research delivery · Lead and support the team acting as an expert resource, demonstrating tenacity, drive, professional integrity, balance and perspective. • Motivate, develop, support and identify training needs for department staff and take a proactive role in the department training programme • Undertake performance review and management and act on identified development needs to maintain high levels of performance and quality within the team. • Act always in a manner which, promotes positive working relationships and maintains the professional image of the Trust. The Neurosurgical Unit within theManchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences (MCCN)at Salford Royal Hospital is one of the largest and busiest neurosurgical centres in the UK, delivering specialist care across the full range of cranial and spinal neurosurgical services. The successful candidate will join the Neuro-Oncology team and work closely with the Consultant Neuro-Oncology Neurosurgeons, providing clinical, operative and multidisciplinary support within a high-volume tertiary referral service. The fellowship offers extensive exposure to the assessment and surgical management of both primary and secondary brain tumours, complex spinal oncology, awake craniotomy, image-guided surgery and interdisciplinary neuro-oncology care. The Fellow will play an integral role within the wider neurosurgical department, working alongside consultants, trainees and specialist practitioners across the service. The Unit hosts a comprehensive range of neurosurgical subspecialties, including functional neurosurgery, epilepsy surgery, complex spine, skull base, vascular neurosurgery and neurotrauma, providing opportunities to gain experience within a busy, well-established and high-performing neurosciences centre.     An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced clinician looking to work at the front door of urgent mental health services in CNWL. The SPA/OOHCR Senior Practitioner will play a crucial role in delivering urgent mental health support to people in mental health crisis. The SPA is CNWL’s 24/7 crisis line and urgent referral service where clinicians work primarily over the telephone to conduct clinical triages and support callers to access crisis support in a timely manner, and to remain in the community. The service also provides face to face crisis assessments between 8pm and 8am across Brent, Harrow, Hillingdon, K&C and Westminster. Within these hours clinicians will travel to peoples’ homes and conduct assessments in order to provide an alternative to attending A&E. We believe that the best care is delivered by enthusiastic and skilled healthcare professionals who are passionate about crisis support and understanding of the social stressors that can contribute to people feeling distressed. The service values those with a wealth of experience of mental health conditions and their treatment. You will also be prepared to work nights and be involved in the clinical supervision of the staff undertaking the OOHs crisis assessment role. The key elements of this post are: -Overseeing and conducting rapid engagement with service users over the telephone and in-person by conducting face to face assessment in their homes. -Delivering care and training/supervising others to ensure a high level of triage, assessment and signposting of service users to statutory and non-statutory support services. -Working closely with our Bed management services, home treatment teams and psychiatric liaison teams and the Mental Health Crisis assessment services as well as having an excellent understanding of CNWL referral pathways in secondary care -Using excellent clinical assessment and risk formulation skills and being able to confidently communicate to the team and to stakeholders both verbally and in writing. The Single Point of Access service sits within the Urgent Care directorate and is uniquely situated as an access point into crisis support and mental health services across the whole trust. If successful in post you will have the unique opportunity to expand and grow your knowledge of the organisation and the support it offers, and play a pivotal part in service users first contact with mental health services, or at the point of crisis and in need of urgent support. You will also be their lifeline in a time of crisis when they need professional support the most. Main duties and responsibilities: To provide strong and effective clinical leadership to the 24/7 SPA team and the Out of Hours Crisis Response Service between 8pm and 8am. To provide day to day clinical leadership, management and co-ordination focusing on delivering high quality mental health support services. To actively work as part of the team as required answering calls and arranging urgent mental health support for patients in crisis. To undertake assessments in patients’ homes that are referred to the OOHCR Team, to formulate risk, arrange care and support people in crisis. Providing an alternative to assessment in A&E. To undertake clinical screening of all referrals coming into the service the other Senior Practitioners in post. To participate in setting standards of care in the team and ensure that those experiencing mental health issues are given fair access to treatment and services. To ensure a robust training and support programme is in place for both SPA and peer support staff. To work in conjunction with the Service manager of SPA to ensure that all aims, goals and targets are met, and clinical quality is maintained. To support the Service Manager in regular reviews of the team and performance and adapting practice or the service in collaboration with other key professionals. To participate in multi-agency meetings internal and externally to ensure that regular callers and high intensity users of the service have a good quality care plan. Support the service manager to ensure that the team is adequately staffed month on month, through use of HealthRoster and Loop. To work some night shifts in negotiation with the service manager The SPA/OOHCR Senior Practitioner will contribute to the provision of safe and reliable services by: • Using supervision and clinical audits to ensure that their supervisees are maintaining high quality during calls and assessments • Providing expert safeguarding advice to the team and seeking support from trust safeguarding leads in complex cases • Undertaking risk formulation with the support of the SPA Consultant Psychiatrists and ensuing that risk concerns are acted on promptly. • Providing clinical and management supervision to the SPA Practitioners All SPA/OOHCR Practitioners expected to be registered with their respective regulatory body and to adhere to their Regulatory Body’s Code of Conduct.
