Applications are invited for Senior Clinical Fellows in Neonates for an initial 12-month period. The successful candidates will work as middle-grade (Tier 2) Doctors within the neonatal service, contributing to a full rota including out-of-hours cover. Alongside their clinical duties, the post holder will support the supervision, training, and education of resident doctors, and work closely with the Consultant team to support the day-to-day running of the neonatal unit. They will also be expected to take part in audit, governance, and quality improvement activities. This role is based solely within Neonates and does not include commitments to general paediatric services. The post holder will work as a middle-grade (Tier 2) doctor on the neonatal rota, providing safe and effective day-to-day clinical care for neonates, including attending deliveries, performing resuscitation, and managing acutely unwell or preterm infants. They will be responsible for timely assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients on the neonatal unit, and will support escalation and clinical decision-making in collaboration with the Consultant team. In addition to their clinical role, the post holder will support the supervision, teaching, and training of junior doctors and other members of the multidisciplinary team. They will contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the neonatal unit, including handovers, ward rounds, and communication with families. The role also includes participation in audit, governance, and quality improvement activities to support service development and maintain high standards of care. The post holder will take part in the full shift rota, including nights, weekends, and on-call duties, ensuring continuous 24/7 cover for the neonatal service. What We Can Offer Mentored training aligned to the RCPCH curriculum with a personal development plan, alongside regular teaching sessions including MDT neonatal journal club, perinatal meetings, simulation and safeguarding. There are opportunities to develop education and leadership skills, including teaching medical students and the wider multidisciplinary team. The post holder will take part in audit, quality and safety meetings and will be supported to develop research skills within Neonatal, Paediatric and Women’s Health teams. Study leave and expenses are supported in line with Trust policy. The Neonatal Directorate Newborn Services provide care across the NICU, Delivery Suite, Preston Birthing Centre and postnatal wards at Royal Preston Hospital. The Trust has around 4,500 births per year, with approximately 9% requiring NICU admission. The NICU has 28 cots (14 intensive/high dependency and 14 special care) and includes transitional care facilities, with additional provision on postnatal wards. As a Level 3 NICU within the Lancashire and South Cumbria Neonatal Network, the unit delivers a full range of care including advanced respiratory support and therapeutic hypothermia. The successful candidate will join a busy, thriving department that is forward looking and innovative. We are the sector leaders in many aspects of obstetric and gynaecological practice. The post will suit a candidate who wishes to undertake advanced training in maternal medicine as part of OOPE or a post-CCT trainee wishing to finesse their skill on obstetric medicine prior to taking a consultant post. The successful candidate will carry out clinical duties within all areas of the obstetrics and gynaecology department including weekly cardiac clinic, monthly low risk cardiac clinic, once a fortnight pre-conception counselling cardiac clinic, attend the weekly Obstetric Medicine clinics (including the Joint Cardiac Clinic with Brompton and the MDT Diabetes/Endocrine Clinic), review cardiac inpatients, attend twice weekly ward rounds twice per week (Obstetric Physician led) and Maternal Medicine MDT meetings (Cardiac, Cystic Fibrosis, Haematology, Neurology and Diabetes and Endocrine). When on call the post holder will be on the three-tier rota covering obstetrics and gynaecology in a 1:8 on out of hours call frequency as the Junior or Senior Registrar depending on prior experience. The appointee will be supported to complete the ATSM in Maternal Medicine and attend obstetric ultrasound scanning sessions to develop scanning skills. Chelsea is the lead site within the sector for abnormally invasive placentas and the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in high-risk elective obstetric procedures and other specialist Obstetric clinics (Multiple Pregnancy and Preterm Birth). It is expected that the successful candidate will undertake clinical audits and undertake quality improvement projects (QIP) under consultant supervision within the area of Cardiac/ Maternal Medicine. The successful candidate can take an active role in optimising high risk antenatal care pathways both within the Trust and North West Maternal Medicine Network. The aim of the service is to provide recovery-focused treatment and support via personalised care plans for individuals who are presenting with a range of mental health disorders: supporting them from diagnosis to recovery, to enable them to lead the lives they wish to live. An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experiencedSpecialist Diabetes Practitioner, Band 7 to join the North East Essex Diabetes Service (NEEDS), a multidisciplinary diabetes team delivering specialist care across community and primary care settings, with strong links to secondary care services. NEEDS is an award-winning service comprising three Consultant Diabetologists/Endocrinologists, a team of Specialist Diabetes Practitioners from a range of professional backgrounds, and a highly valued administrative team.
