The Endoscopy department at University Hospitals of Derby & Burton NHS Foundation Trust currently have 3 endoscopy units across 3 of our sites: • Royal Derby Hospital - 7 Rooms • Queens Hospital Burton - 3 rooms • Sir Robert Peel - 2 Rooms And delivery over 30,000 procedures annually, all sites are currently JAG accredited. We have a dedicated Clinical Lead for endoscopy along with a Clinical training lead. Endoscopy at RDH perform ERCP, EUS, capsule endoscopy and complex EMR procedures. We have a dedicated ERCP procedure room, provide an emergency inpatient endoscopy list 365 days a year and have a dedicated endoscopy nurse on call rota These exciting newly appointed roles will include back filling cancelled endoscopy sessions (5 per week along with 2 training sessions) but we will also encourage specialised training for endoscopic procedures such as complicated EMRs and EUS. This post will be based at the Royal Derby Hospital campus and is designed to support the activities of the endoscopy department across all 3 sites and acquire specialist advanced endoscopy training. The post-holder will work alongside a variety of Consultant Gastroenterologists and GI Surgeons and will be responsible to the clinical lead in Endoscopy. This is a one-year post specifically intended for registrars (or equivalent) approaching their CCST or immediate post CCST (or equivalent), and wishing to expand their endoscopy / research experience and undertake further training in therapeutic and advanced colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS and as such is most suited to those reaching the end of their specialist training in gastroenterology. As the candidate will be conducting service endoscopy sessions independently they will need to have achieved competency in diagnostic upper and lower GI endoscopy. Experience in capsule endoscopy reporting and common therapeutic endoscopic procedures is also desirable but not essential. It would also be suitable however for anyone with sufficient endoscopic experience e.g. staff grades in gastroenterology. The appointee will be expected to undertake 5 service endoscopy lists and 2 training lists in either ERCP, EUS, or advanced colonic polypectomy (EMR). Appointees will be expected to identify a training requirement at interview (i.e. undertake 12 months training in either ERCP, EUS, or advanced colonic polypectomy (EMR). The aim of this service is to improve and standardise care pathways and achieve best-value care for patients requiring oral nutrition support in SEL. As well as reviewing patients who have been prescribed nutrition supplements, the team work collaboratively alongside Primary Care Networks, acute care dietetic teams and community care homes to ensure that patients are receiving optimal nutritional care along their treatment pathways. The service provides training and guidance to GPs, pharmacists and other community healthcare teams on the identification and treatment of malnutrition in the community and appropriate use of oral nutrition support prescription products. The service will improve the quality of nutritional care that patients at risk from malnutrition receive whilst at the same time ensuring local healthcare resources are used effectively and efficiently. You will need to be a motivated self-starter who can engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders. You will need to be good at analysing data and will be expected to complete reports to regular deadlines as well as having excellent clinical dietetics skills As a senior member of the team, responsibilities will also include clinical support and supervision of junior team members, induction and student training responsibilities. The role will also require leadership of SEL-wide working groups such as care home and secondary care working groups and associated workstreams. You will be joining a dietetics department of well over 120 staff working across Guy's, St Thomas’, Evelina Children Hospital and community services. To adapt and analyse the menu cycle to ensure suitability for elderly care, and make recommendations to the site Catering Manager • To initiate and participate in regular research and audit in line with departmental research and audit procedures. The post will suit a candidate who wishes to undertake advanced training in maternal medicine as part of OOPE or a post-CCT trainee wishing to finesse their skill on obstetric medicine prior to taking a consultant post. The successful candidate will carry out clinical duties within all areas of the obstetrics and gynaecology department including weekly cardiac clinic, monthly low risk cardiac clinic, once a fortnight pre-conception counselling cardiac clinic, attend the weekly Obstetric Medicine clinics (including the Joint Cardiac Clinic with Brompton and the MDT Diabetes/Endocrine Clinic), review cardiac inpatients, attend twice weekly ward rounds twice per week (Obstetric Physician led) and Maternal Medicine MDT meetings (Cardiac, Cystic Fibrosis, Haematology, Neurology and Diabetes and Endocrine). When on call the post holder will be on the three-tier rota covering obstetrics and gynaecology in a 1:8 on out of hours call frequency as the Junior or Senior Registrar depending on prior experience. The appointee will be supported to complete the ATSM in Maternal Medicine and attend obstetric ultrasound scanning sessions to develop scanning skills.
