The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant Cardiologist with a specialist interest in congenital heart disease (ACHD) on a part-time basis (7.74PAs), for a fixed term period of 12 months. The individual should have expertise in congenital heart disease with relevant specialist higher training. There will an additional opportunity for a specialist session for suitably trained candidates. The postholder’s duties will be primarily at John Radcliffe Hospital, however it will also be necessary to attend Northampton General Hospital and Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading. As an organisation we are committed to developing our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients. This means that some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings or at weekends. This post is part of the ACHD service at Oxford University Hospitals and will working alongside other consultants and members of the multidisciplinary team. The post is to cover maternity leave. The key aim is for the candidate to participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care. They will be required to contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development. The post holder with support the advanced nurse specialists perform their clinical duties. The post holder will have access to an administrator that is shared with other members of the team and will be provided with the appropriate IT equipment and support to undertake their clinical duties. The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides integrated cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery services for health authorities in the Oxford region and for a number of health authorities in neighbouring regions. The population served is approximately 2.5 million. The successful applicant will join the existing Consultant colleagues who currently provide comprehensive secondary and tertiary services. The NHS department works closely with the University Department of Cardiovascular Medicine with rotation of clinical lecturers between the two departments and Consultants working across both departments. Academic interests include myocardial hypertrophy, vascular biology and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. Cardiology provides a local service to Oxfordshire Health Authority, as the local district general hospital, as well as offering a tertiary service for interventional cardiology. Good relations with colleagues in neighbouring district general hospitals ensures a flow of referrals both elective and emergency. Teaching/Research • Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust is a teaching hospital trust, and the post-holder will be required to participate in programmes for teaching clinical students, training doctors in training and in clinical examinations. It is expected that this will be an integral part of everyday clinical activity. The post-holder’s contribution to teaching, training and research will be included in the regular job plan review. Clinical Governance • The post-holder will participate in all clinical governance activities, including clinical audit, clinical effectiveness, risk management, quality improvement activities as required by the Trust, and external accrediting bodies. Personal and Professional Development • The post-holder will be required to keep themselves fully up-to-date with their relevant area of practice and to be able to demonstrate this to the satisfaction of the Trust. Professional or study leave will be granted at the discretion of the Trust, in line with the prevailing Terms and Conditions of Service, to support appropriate study, postgraduate training activities, relevant CME courses and other appropriate personal development needs. This is currently 30 days over a 3 year period Management • The postholder will be required to work within the Trust's management policies and procedures, both statutory and internal, accepting that the resources available to the Trust are finite and that all changes in clinical practice or workload, or developments requiring additional resources must have prior agreement with the Trust. He/she will undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of his /her patients and the running of his/her clinical service under the direction of the lead clinician and/or directorate chair. We are seeking to recruit a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Dova Unit at Furness General Hospital, Barrow. The post is full time (10PA). The postholder will be expected to participate on the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration will be payable (0.5 PA + 5% supplement) The Dova unit, based at Dane Garth in Furness General hospital, is an 18 bedded mixed gender ward. There is an older adults ward also based at the hospital. FGH is a large district general hospital with around 268 beds, a full range of specialities and an accident and emergency department. The Dane Garth unit has established resident doctor posts including FY1s, FY2s a CT and GPSTs. This post holder would have the 2.5 WTE resident doctors supporting ward duties, along with input from a SAS colleague. There is an active monthly peer group meeting of medical colleagues within the Cumbria locality too. The post holder will work with a multidisciplinary team including matron, ward manager, clinical leads, nursing staff, occupational therapy HCA and recovery support staff. Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be included on the Specialist register of the GMC or they should be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date. It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or are eligible to have Approved Clinician Status. Remuneration will be as set out in the terms of the New Consultant Contract according to previous experience. This is one of 3 teams that comprise the overall Southwark Assertive Outreach and Rehabilitation Team (AORT). The rehabilitation team serves non-forensic Southwark mental health patients in supported placements and residential care. It offers specialist care for people with severe mental illness, many of whom have co-morbid conditions (substance misuse, personality disorder), with significant impairment of functioning, treatment resistance and complex needs in multiple domains requiring a high level of support; who may be difficult to engage and/or have gone through multiple episodes of inpatient treatment or protracted admissions, and who may pose risks to self and others. The service has a clear focus on recovery and maximising independence, and promoting successful step down to less supported care.
