As a Crisis Care Practitioner, you will provide urgent mental health assessment and intervention for individuals contacting the service in crisis, whether for themselves or others. COPE stands for: C – Children and Young People who are O – Open cases to Social Work and need P – Planned intervention during E – Early mornings, Evenings and weekends COPE offers a blend of planned work and rapid crisis response with a strong focus on keeping families safely together. COPE provides planned input and support to children, young people and families who are working with our service. In line with the Independent Care Review, The Promise, we have listened to children, young people and families’ requests for support to be available to them at times when they need it. We are also looking for one COPE Worker to work 34.1 hours per week, from approximately 12:30/13:30 until 22:00 during the week and from 11:00 until 21:00 on alternate weekends. COPE staff work closely with the Lead Professional to undertake directed pieces of planned work, which may include providing parenting support for families, spending individual time with a child or young person, and completing any other suitable tasks identified within their Child or Young Person’s Plan. Alongside planned pieces of work, COPE Workers respond to the urgent needs of children, young people and families as required, in conjunction with our Out of Hours Service, including undertaking welfare visits. A rotating two-week shift pattern will be in place for the worker on the evening rota. Both shift patterns require working alternate weekends. I enjoy activities that help me stay regulated, such as bouncing on my trampoline at home. I also like visiting Brodies soft play area and going to the park for short periods of time. I rely on my carers to meet all my care needs, including personal care and support getting in and out of transport. When in the community, I use a disability buggy to help me get around, as I can become easily distracted, may wander off, and can refuse to walk, especially if I want to go in a different direction. Female preferred. Hours of work 6 hours a week. Rate of pay. £13.50 Essential: I need you to: • Have a good understanding of neurodivergence, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is important when supporting me. • Be able to provide constant supervision, as I have no awareness of danger. If my carer becomes distracted, I may walk into the road or move towards hazards without recognising the risks. • When in the community, I need my carer to always hold my hand. If something catches my attention, I will try to move towards it without considering safety. I also use a specialist buggy, which supports me during transitions and helps keep me safe. • When I am dysregulated, I may bite, pinch, or bang my head on the floor. I need a carer who is emotionally attuned and able to provide calm, consistent, and reassuring support during moments of distress or overwhelm. • When out and about, it is important that my carer brings my tablet (so I can watch Peppa Pig) and snacks, as these help me stay regulated. • I may find crowded or noisy environments difficult. A typical day for Charlie when at home includes listening to music and picking his ‘song of the day’. Charlie enjoys playing with his toys, especially his car collection, playing with technical gadgets such as VR, tablets or just chill on his phone. Charlie also loves to visit places such as the bowling alley to play arcade games, Science Centre, and Aquariums or go to the local swing parks. The Role As Charlie’s Personal Assistant you will be required to provide one-to-one care that promotes independence, dignity, safety, wellbeing and support within his home and local community. Charlie has a physical and learning disability and uses a wheelchair. At times Charlie also uses a walking frame with a prosthetic leg to support him, so the role will involve supporting his mobility and ensuring that he can safely access the community and activities he enjoys.
