I enjoy creative writing but am physically unable to write and so require someone to act as my scribe, particularly when attending one of my creative writing groups (Monday pm). I also like to sing and am a member of a singing/music group (Tuesday pm) I also belong to a choir which practises on Monday evenings for 2 hours, which provides an additional 3 hours Including travelling time (these 3 hours would be an optional extra). My PA/companion would be a car owner/driver (appropriately insured) to transport me and my small, folding wheelchair and remain with me during these activities. There may also be theatre/cinema visits, National Trust visits and coffee outings. Mileage paid at 45p per mile.     We are looking for a Personal Assistant to support a lovely 16-year-old young man who has severe learning disabilities and requires a high level of assistance. He is non-verbal, has limited movement and suffers from epilepsy. On a daily basis, duties will include assisting with dressing, hoisting into a chair, providing frequent postural changes, administering medication, delivering personal care, catheter use, chest physiotherapy, nebuliser use and monitoring for seizure activity. All food and fluids are administered using a PEG. While hoists and manual handling aids are provided, it is essential that applicants are able to offer physical support when necessary, including encouraging and prompting to engage in play activities. The role is for 10 hours a week daytime shifts. Start times are flexible, and the currently available days are Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday.
