We are looking for a Personal Assistant to support a lovely 16-year-old young man who has severe learning disabilities and requires a high level of assistance. He is non-verbal, has limited movement and suffers from epilepsy. During the night, duties will include providing frequent postural changes, administering medication, delivering personal care, catheter use, chest physiotherapy, nebuliser use and monitoring for seizure activity. All food and fluids are administered using a PEG. While hoists and manual handling aids are provided, it is essential that applicants are able to offer physical support when necessary. The role is for one or two overnight shifts per week. Shifts are 10 hours 9pm-7am, these are strictly waking nights rather than sleep-in shifts. The successful applicant must be able to use their own initiative. This is a rewarding role supporting a happy young man in a caring home environment. A position has arisen for a full time Assistant Practitioner Role in research working in the perioperative, CCU and surgical unit. The research portfolio is expanding and this exciting position is required to support the research nurses in clinical trial delivery. The successful candidate should have a flexible approach to their duties and the ability to work as part of a team. To inform the nurse in charge when repairs are needed. • Collect blood samples and process them as per clinical lab manual provided by the sponsor • Ensure stock levels of clinical and non-clinical supplies are maintained through ordering, storing and rotating stock and safely disposing of out of date stock. • To service/calibration history and sponsor requirements. • To assist nursing and medical staff with various clinical procedures when delegated appropriately by a registered nurse e.g. observation of patients after intradermal injections. • To report faulty equipment to the relevant department for the repair. • Request tissue as per trial protocol and in line with hospital policy and HTA regulation, ensuring patient consent has been given in advance.
