This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in both vehicle damage assessment and motor claims engineering who enjoys making technical decisions, managing stakeholder relationships and influencing claims outcomes. The position would suit an individual currently working as a Motor Engineer, Insurance Engineer, Vehicle Damage Assessor (VDA) or Bodyshop Estimator who has hands-on experience assessing motor insurance claims and is looking to join a highly regarded and well-established operation. You must have minimum of a AQP or ATA (VDA) standard qualification. Key Responsibilities - Assess accident-damaged vehicles and make expert engineering decisions throughout the motor claims journey. - Review repair estimates, approve repair methodologies and negotiate repair costs with repairers and approved repair networks. - Determine repair versus total loss outcomes, ensuring fair, consistent and commercially sound decisions. - Manage vehicle valuations, settlement negotiations and salvage categorisation activities. - Handle a caseload of approximately 12-15 claims per day whilst maintaining service standards and technical accuracy. - Work closely with customers, fleet operators, repairers, suppliers and claims colleagues to resolve technical queries and support positive claims outcomes. - Provide technical guidance on a varied portfolio including private motor, commercial vehicles and agricultural machinery. About You - Qualified to a minimum of AQP or ATA (VDA) standard. - Previous experience within a Motor Engineer, Insurance Engineer, Vehicle Damage Assessor (VDA) or similar automotive claims-focused role. - Strong experience assessing motor insurance claims and making repair versus total loss decisions. - Good understanding of repair economics, vehicle valuations, salvage processes and modern vehicle repair techniques. - Experience using estimating platforms would be advantageous. - Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships across repair networks, customers and internal stakeholders. - A proactive and technically minded individual who enjoys taking ownership of claims decisions and delivering fair customer outcomes.
