As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will be capable of role modelling Infrastructure solutions which adhere to best practice, with a focus on operational stability, resilience, and availability. This position will collaborate with Architects, Site Reliability Engineers, Delivery Managers, and Product Managers, who all support the implementation and operation of Cloud hosted products and services. The role will sit within one of our Engineering Tooling Services Teams which comprise of Automation & Orchestration and Manage & Deploy My Code services. This role will maintain and support project to exit Ansible Automation Platform and GitLab from the On Premise Hosting (OPH) estate. Support the design and implementation of Public Cloud infrastructure services/solutions to meet strategic plans and roadmaps. Responsible for operational management of Public Cloud hosted technologies, products, and services, with a focus on security, availability, resilience, and performance. Provide specialist service/solution technical support and assistance to junior staff and users. Development and implementation of service improvement plans to address identified issues for Public Cloud hosted technologies, products, and services. Responsible for management and resolution of Incidents for Public Cloud hosted technologies, products, and services. Working with Product Delivery Unit (PDU) teams to understand their current Ansible Automation Platform and GitLab instances. Develop, execute and support the migration path for PDU instances to the strategic platforms. Ensure minimal disruption to services by proactively identifying and resolving technical issues during and after migrations. Supporting with the upskilling and developing of end users. Identify, develop and implement automation solutions to reduce operational toil, improve system reliability, and enable teams to focus on higher value activities.

    This position is an integral part of the Department for Business, Innovation, Science & Trade Export Planning and Performance team, contributing to the delivery of the department’s export performance objectives. The postholder will play a pivotal part in supporting robust performance reporting across the Directorate. The role will: Support the development and implementation of unified export reporting and performance frameworks, ensuring data is accurate and dashboards are up to date. Promote a culture of value-led evaluation and support improvement initiatives across Directorate workstreams.
