The Clancy Group - Andover
PermanentFull time
Environment & Sustainability Manager Competitive Salary + Electric Car or Allowance + Other Benefits Andover We Care... about the environments we work in and the impact we leave behind, which is why we need people like you who are passionate about helping major infrastructure projects be delivered responsibly and sustainably. At Clancy, we're delivering some of the South's most significant water infrastructure projects while protecting the habitats, watercourses and communities they serve. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Environment & Sustainability Manager to support the delivery of two major projects: Southern Water's Andover Link Main and Portsmouth Water's Havant Thicket Reservoir pipeline scheme. Why these projects? Andover Link Main A major new pipeline connecting Winchester and Andover, helping secure future water supplies while reducing pressure on Hampshire's internationally important chalk streams. Havant Thicket Reservoir Pipeline Part of the wider Havant Thicket Reservoir programme, this project includes an 8.5km pipeline and pumping station that will help transfer sustainable water supplies across the region, strengthening drought resilience and supporting future demand. Both projects pass through environmentally sensitive areas, making environmental leadership a critical part of successful delivery. The Role... Working closely with our Head of Environment, you'll lead the day-to-day environmental delivery across both projects, helping ensure environmental risks are effectively managed and project commitments are met throughout construction. You'll work alongside Project Managers, site teams, Environmental Advisors, Ecological Clerks of Works, specialist consultants and client representatives to coordinate environmental activities, manage permits and consents, support compliance and drive a positive environmental culture across the projects. This is an opportunity to influence two flagship schemes from the outset and see the direct impact of your work on projects that will leave a lasting legacy. Here's some of the activities you'll be involved in... Leading day-to-day environmental delivery across both projects. Managing environmental permits, licences, consents and approvals. Producing and maintaining environmental documentation, including Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs). Identifying environmental risks and ensuring effective mitigation measures are implemented. Coordinating ecological, environmental and archaeological requirements throughout construction. Delivering audits, inspections, incident investigations and compliance reporting. Supporting project sustainability objectives and identifying opportunities to improve environmental performance. Building effective relationships with clients, regulators, landowners and key stakeholders. Providing guidance and support to Environmental Advisors and Ecological Clerks of Works. We'd love to hear from you if you can demonstrate the following... Extensive experience working in the environmental sector, ideally within construction, utilities, water or infrastructure projects. In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and environmental compliance requirements. Significant experience in waste management and a detailed understanding of environmental permits and compliance. Significant experience working with ecology, archaeology, arboriculture and water environment specialisms. Proven experience writing, coordinating and managing consents, assents, licences and permit applications. Experience developing, implementing and maintaining environmental management plans and environmental controls on complex projects. Experience implementing and working within ISO14001 environmental management systems. The confidence to influence operational teams and challenge where environmental standards are at risk. Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients, regulators, landowners and project teams. A degree or equivalent qualification in an environmental discipline. Membership of a relevant professional body such as ISEP, CIWEM, IES, CIWM or similar. IEMA Practitioner membership, or the demonstrable capability to operate at that level, would be advantageous. A full and valid UK driving licence. The full right to work in the UK. Why join Clancy? You'll have the opportunity to shape the environmental delivery of two major infrastructure projects from the very beginning, supported by an experienced Head of Environment and a wider team of specialists. As a family-owned business with over 70 years of experience, we're committed to doing the right thing for our people, our clients and the communities we serve. If you're looking for an opportunity to apply your environmental expertise on complex infrastructure projects, influence how they're delivered and help create a positive environmental legacy, we'd love to hear from you.
