Portsmouth Water are delighted to have an opening for a Water Resources Planner or a Senior Water Resources Planner. Based in Havant, you'll sit at the heart of our Water Resources team, shaping the Water Resources Management Plan and Drought Plan that keep taps flowing for generations to come – with a particular focus on demand forecasting and demand management options. Key Responsibilities - Process, analyse and report the data behind our Water Resources Management Plan and Drought Plan. - Support the modelling of water resources for demand and supply workstreams and turn results into clear insight. - Track our water resources position year-round and share timely, insightful reporting. - Work with consultants to deliver water resources projects, to agreed timescales and budgets. - Represent Portsmouth Water at technical stakeholder groups, internal and external. - Collaborate with the smart metering, water efficiency, leakage reduction, developer services, Havant Thicket Reservoir, production planning, regulations and WINEP teams. - Support continuous improvement, KPI and WRMP compliance, and a collaborative, safety-first culture. In addition, a Senior Water Resources Planner responsibilities will include: •Provide technical guidance on water resources workstreams, supporting a successful PR29. •Track and monitor delivery of our WRMP through internal and external collaboration. •Represent the company at Water Resources South East regional planning working groups. •Support the Asset Directorate on communications with the Executive Team and Board. What do you need? Skills, Qualifications & Competencies - A degree (or equivalent) in an environmental science/water resources discipline or a related discipline - Obtained or actively working towards professional membership of an environmental or project management body (e.g. CIWEM, Institute of Water). - Confident numerical literacy and data interpretation skills - Sound scientific and technical skills in water resources - Comfortable working as part of a small team and using your own initiative - Sound administration and organisation skills - Confident computer literacy skills - Basic geological and hydrogeological understanding - Clear written and verbal communication skills For a Senior Water Resources Planner, we are also looking for: - Knowledge and experience of relevant UK workstreams (e.g. Drought Planning, WINEP & Environmental Destination, WRMP demand & supply forecasting and options appraisal) - Sound management and technical skills in water resources - Well organised, with good time management and a positive, can-do approach If you are successful for the role, you will be required to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) pre-employment checks that will include a basic disclosure check.
