Opportunities can range from day-to-day flexible supply to short-term cover and longer-term placements, making this an ideal opportunity for experienced HLTAs looking for flexibility, consistent work or the chance to experience different school settings. As an HLTA, you could be supporting the class teacher, delivering planned lessons, leading whole-class or small-group activities, providing targeted intervention and supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis. You may also be required to take responsibility for a class in the absence of the class teacher. A key part of the role will be creating a positive learning environment, maintaining high expectations and helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and academic skills.
