At Care in Mind our homes are always a hub of activity and energy where the young people can feel safe, and our staff enjoy coming to work. Our young people can still be quite active at night so you will have lots of interaction and will be required to support them their wellbeing, education, household tasks and general life skills. There will also be more challenging aspects to the role such as incident management and de-escalation of challenging behaviours. You will be required to update online care records, complete medication administration and provide effective handovers to the day staff. In addition, you will be responsible for the general upkeep and tidiness of the home ensuring the young people live in homely environment. Even though you are working nights, you will have the support of another night worker or a sleep in and have access to an on-call manager for additional support. At our home in Stockport, you will be working with young people who have a variety of mental health diagnosis including personality disorder, those who have difficult relationships with food and those who use self-harm as a strategy to cope with their emotions. As such, you will be required to be patient and resilient as the support you will be providing to our young people will include supporting them to improve their relationship with food and managing incidents of self-harm. A number of our young people are preparing for moving on positively from the home into the community, therefore you will be supporting this transition through things such as: supporting them to self-administer their own medication, getting back into education, accessing public transport and appointments independently. Our young people are very adventurous and engage in a variety of activities including festivals, walking in the Peak District, visiting places like the cinema, Trafford Centre, indoor golf as well as having a stroll on a local park. There will never be a dull moment when you are on shift. The home is a 4-bed service which is located between Stockport town centre and Marple giving the house the best of both worlds in the sense of being close to all amenities being near a town centre but also the opportunity to explore the countryside. The house is a large 4-bedroom detached property which is well maintained and homely, making it a lovely environment to work in. The garden is another area of activity and includes a trampoline, football nets, dining area as well as flower beds and vegetable patch. Previous care experience is not essential and full training will be provided. You will receive ongoing support and mentoring from our friendly residential and clinical team which includes Reflective Practice, 1:1 supervisions and Group Staff support. This is a standard process across the NHS and helps us ensure a safe environment for everyone. What is a DBS Check? A DBS check is a background check that reveals any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings. The level of check required depends on the role: Standard DBS: Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings. Enhanced DBS: Includes the above, plus any additional information held by local police that’s considered relevant to the role. The Costs for a DBS At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. The successful candidate will ideally have experience with animals or a farm setting. We are looking for a team player to join us for 2 days a week at our site in Chelmarsh. You will need to be available to fill the contracted hours over 2 days between Monday and Friday and these days will be flexible, not set. Staff receive their rotas a month in advance as minimum. Any extra days, evenings or weekends would class as additional hours. The role involves supporting individuals with learning disabilities in a range of farming and horticultural activities. You will also work collaboratively as part of a team and assist with transport duties. Confidence in an educational setting would be desirable. We are looking for someone with a mix of practical skills but who is also familiar with technology. Experience working to high standards of health and safety , along with infection control policies and procedures is crucial. This is a unique role and you must be willing to get your hands dirty!! About You: Essential Requirements: * Driver with UK manual licence for at least 1 year and own vehicle (there is no Public Services). * Maths and English Level two and above * Good IT knowledge/skills/systems * Good communication skills and actively listen Desirable Requirements; * HSC Level 2 Diploma or similar. * Farming/ agricultural / horticultural experience highly desirable * Qualification within Health and social care desirable * Qualifications such as trailer license and working with machinery are highly desirable *Some of our roles require males, females, race and age specific employees only.
