Building on the NHS contribution to the 100,000 Genomes Project, the introduction of a national genomic medicine service has created 7 Genomic Laboratory Hubs (GLHs). The North West GLH will be hosted by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Genetic Technologist to join the North West GLH. The post will operate from the Genomic Diagnostics Laboratory (GDL), Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. The GDL is one of the largest and most comprehensive clinical genomics labs in the UK, consisting of biochemical, cytogenetic and molecular genetics laboratories which together provide diagnostic services to a population of over 5 million people. The labs employ over 100 staff including clinical scientists, genetic technologists, bioinformaticians and administrative staff. The Genomic Diagnostics Laboratory is a well-established, UKAS-accredited service. The Genomic Diagnostics Laboratory aims to continue to deliver a patient-focussed service with an international reputation and be a premier supplier of laboratory testing in the NHS. We are implementing ambitious plans for modernising and improving service delivery. As an Assistant Genetic Technologist, you will work in the laboratory on one of our Technical Teams (Pre-analytical, Cell Culture and Karyotyping, Molecular Cytogenetics, Fragment or Sequencing/NGS) under the supervision of a Senior Genetic Technologist performing a range of protocol driven tasks. You should ideally possess A levels in relevant subject areas or be able to demonstrate equivalent literacy and numeracy skills. Experience in a Genetics laboratory environment is desirable; alternatively a diagnostic laboratory. Computer literacy is also required. You should have good communication skills, be able to work well in a team, remain calm under pressure, and be able to take the initiative and prioritise workload. This is a highly skilled job for which specific training will be given. You will be fully trained to carry out your duties and you will be appraised on a yearly basis with a view to developing knowledge and skills where appropriate. The work requires constant attention to detail and good organisational / multi-tasking skills. You will work under supervision. Following an extremely successful launch and first year of delivery, we’re looking for an industry expert Film Office Manager to lead on their predecessor’s work in developing and maintaining the film office’s offer to the UK Film and TV Sector, unlocking the opportunity to generate proposals, interest and demand. To do this, you'll will work closely with Creative UK’s Filming in England team and the Film Office Steering Committee whilst guiding filming across the county alongside key strategic partners. You'll maintain and grow the digital/marketing presences that Screen Staffordshire has established (sector databases, website, and associated collateral) and will lead on the planning and delivery of industry familiarisation trips before the end of the programme. You will also finalise the implementation of a permitting scheme with the appointed provider and service level agreements with key public sector partners, ensuring the criteria for successful delivery of both are consistently adhered to. Wherever possible and appropriate, you will seek opportunities to represent the film office and wider county at sector events and trade shows. Continuing to showcase the return on investment for this pilot will be key, and working with the head of service to establish clear KPI’s at the end of year two in preparation for the programme’s final year will help monitor performance of the film office service whilst providing sufficient evidence of impact to be published at regular intervals. In addition to budget management, collaboration will be essential - working with key internal partners including the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP), Staffordshire County Councils Skills & Employability service and Culture and Communities Service to leverage relevant opportunities to support increased awareness and take-up of our visitor economy offer, labour market and cultural offer. We sit within the Department of Child & Adolescent Psychological Medicine at UCLH, made up of psychiatry, clinical psychologists and mental health nurses. The team is well-established, and the work of child psychotherapy is valued and widely understood amongst our medical colleagues. There is a strong tradition of multi-professional working and close collaboration with medical colleagues to work towards sensitive and holistic ways of supporting patients with complex, chronic and life limiting medical conditions. The Paediatric and Adolescent Division is large and busy. It includes secondary care paediatric clinics for our local communities; and several tertiary specialties including specialist services for children and young people with cancer; and a specialist service for complex adolescent health conditions (TRACCS).
