We are looking for a Band 7 Advanced Paediatric Audiologist / Clinical Scientist to join us at Oxford University Hospitals on a 1-year fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. It is an exciting time to join OUH as we deliver a project to reconfigure how paediatric audiology services are delivered by the Trust. We are delighted to have been rated “Full Assurance” in our ICB/NHS England site visit in spring 2025, and have received funding to further develop our service, including provision of a new paediatric audiology facility at the Horton Hospital in Banbury (due for completion in September 2026). We are looking for a forward-thinking and highly motivated individual to join us on our service development journey. This post would be ideal for an experienced Paediatric Audiologist / Clinical Scientists who would like to further develop their service development, leadership, management and advanced clinical skills. You will be working alongside our other team leaders, reporting to the Head of Paediatric Audiology. This is a full-time post, but we would be happy to consider applicants interested in a part time contract (minimum 22.5hrs/week). The role is primarily concerned with the delivery of advanced clinical practice in paediatric audiology including behavioural testing in children considered non-routine, objective testing, and hearing aid fitting and verification. In addition, this post carries service development and line-management responsibilities. The post holder will work closely with the Head of Paediatric Audiology in the delivery of the newly configured service. They will be expected to supervise, coach and mentor junior members of staff to ensure that a consistently high-quality clinical service is provided. Time has been allocated for the leadership, management, training and service development aspects of the role. You will be an audiologist with BSc or PTP in audiology with additional training in paediatric audiology, or a Clinical Scientist (Audiology) andmustbe registered with HCPC as a Clinical Scientist or AHCS as an Audiologist (please note that HCPC HAD registration is not sufficient). Evidence of further specialist training and experience in paediatric audiology in an NHS context is expected, including provision of hearing aids. You will have highly developed skills in undertaking developmentally appropriate audiological assessments in children of all ages, including those considered non-routine. We provide a comprehensive paediatric audiology service including assessing babies referred from the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme, the behavioural and objective assessment of children of all ages and the habilitation of children with hearing loss. The paediatric audiology service sits alongside a busy adult audiology service and our Auditory Implant Programme. You would be joining a large team comprising Audiologists, Assistant Audiologists, Clinical Scientists (Audiology), Hearing Therapists and administrative colleagues. We are actively involved in training and have colleagues on PTP and STP programmes, with all staff having regular CPD opportunities. The service has undergone significant development over recent years and is actively working towards IQIPS accreditation.     Rhinology Fellow Speciality: Ear nose and Throat Fixed term for 12 months The main ENT Department is located in the West Wing at The John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. It provides emergency care and wide range of general and sub-specialty elective inpatient work for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire regions. Day surgery cases are treated in the West Wing, Churchill head and neck unit, The Horton, Stoke Mandeville Hospital and High Wycombe. The department prides itself on being a regional tertiary referral Centre for head and neck oncology, skull base surgery and neurology, pediatrics ENT, specialist rhinology and otology including cochlear implants and bone anchored hearing aids. It is the hub of the Regional SpR Training Program. You will be expected to attend daily ward rounds, undertake ward work and participate in holding the on-call bleep. You will have the opportunity to sit in outpatient clinics and attend theatre to improve and develop knowledge and understanding. You will be expected to attend and contribute to monthly academic sessions, MDT and clinical governance. The specialist registrars are heavily involved in the management of the junior clinical staff and aim to support on-call duties and clinician development very closely.     The role of Perinatal Specialist Peer Support Worker (Perinatal SpPSW) has been developed specifically for people who have lived experience of recovery from perinatal mental health challenges. In the context of Westminster Perinatal Mental Health Services, postholders will have experienced recovery from perinatal mental health challenges and accessed support through a perinatal mental health service in relation to this. Through sharing wisdom from their own experiences, Perinatal SpPSW inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in others. Using recovery principles and socially inclusive practice, the post-holder will support service users in their personal recovery journeys through the Perinatal Mental Health Service. This means providing peer support for mums who experience similar mental health and social needs during the perinatal period. They will foster a relationship of mutuality and information sharing, to promote choice, self-determination, opportunities and hope. They will raise awareness about local resources and opportunities that may assist people in maintaining their recovery. They will encourage and support service users to use community and children’s resources that are available to them, and support the Perinatal Service with developing links with these resources. They will act as an advocate for recovery within the team and an ambassador for recovery for the Trust and with partner agencies. As a core member of the multi-disciplinary team, the PSW will work with service users on a 1:1 and/or group basis. They will also have the opportunity to co-work with other colleagues.
