Summary

Provision of comprehensive psychiatric care to OPMH patients through evaluation, diagnosis and use of appropriate treatment plans/strategies, advising and supporting carers in the community, and acute hospital staff as needed. Arrange appropriate investigations including effective use of neuroimaging and neurophysiology. Working in a patient centred manner, ensuring the involvement of families and carer, wherever possible, with the patients consent in treatment planning. Creation and review of risk assessments. To work alongside other members of the MDT to provide joined up and holistic care for patients. To participate in formal processes regarding admission and discharge pathways including community treatment reviews as per ICB guidance. Supervision of the clinical work of trainee doctors and/or specialist grade doctors. Contribute to routine reports to support appropriate rehabilitation plans and packages or care for commissioners where this is appropriate. Management responsibilities To ensure that clinicians, trainees and medical students in services assigned to the consultant receive appropriate clinical supervision on a regular basis. The post holder may offer additional educational supervision to trainees. Taking part in administrative / management duties within the Directorate and the Trust as a whole Identifying and advocating for required resources, including staff, as necessary. Participating in governance, clinical audit, medical advisory committees and other committees as may be necessary. Participate in the on-call rota as set out below. To comply with the Trust's agreed policies and procedures and always to practice in-line with the royal College of Psychiatry's "Good Psychiatric Practice" and the general Medical council's "Good Medical Practice".
