Summary
Help us build supportive online communities where families affected by dementia feel heard and connected.
Social media is often one of the first places people turn to for information, advice and support. At Dementia UK, we want to make sure every interaction is helpful, compassionate and reflects our commitment to families facing dementia.
As our Social Media Community Executive, you will take on a newly created role, helping us strengthen relationships with our online communities and develop our presence across social media platforms, including exploring new opportunities on Reddit. This is a community management role rather than a content creation role, with a focus on meaningful engagement, building trust and ensuring people receive timely and compassionate responses.
Working closely with our Social Media Manager, you will manage day-to-day community engagement, responding to comments, questions and messages across our channels. You will help create a safe and supportive online environment, handling sensitive conversations with empathy and knowing when to escalate concerns, including safeguarding or reputational risks.
You will also use social listening to understand what people are saying about Dementia UK and the challenges families are facing. By identifying trends, recurring questions and opportunities for engagement, you will share valuable insights with colleagues to help inform our communications and improve how we support our audiences.
You will bring experience of managing and moderating online communities on behalf of an organisation, with the confidence to handle challenging conversations and respond appropriately to sensitive issues. You will have excellent written communication skills, strong judgement and the ability to manage a high volume of interactions while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Proactive, curious and collaborative, you will enjoy building relationships, sharing ideas and finding new ways to engage with online communities. You will also be comfortable working with our external moderation agency and colleagues across the charity to ensure a consistent and responsive approach.
If you are passionate about building positive online communities and want to use your experience to make a difference for families affected by dementia, we would love to hear from you.
Our culture

We recognise and value the key role you will play in delivering our strategic plans for the benefit of those living with dementia.
Our staff have a voice. Representatives from different roles and levels across the organisation lead and positively contribute to our working groups around health and wellbeing, menopause, and equity, diversity and inclusion.
