Summary

Are you an NMC-registered Adult Nurse with a District Nursing Specialist Practice Qualification (SPQ) and a passion for developing the future workforce? The University of Plymouth is seeking an enthusiastic Lecturer in Adult Nursing (District Nurse) to join our established School of Nursing and Midwifery.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine your district nursing expertise with teaching, scholarship, and professional development within a supportive, innovative, and research-active environment. Whether you are an experienced educator or a clinician looking to move into academia, we welcome your application.

As a Lecturer, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-informed teaching across a range of nursing programmes, supporting learners through lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical sessions, and online learning activities. You will play a key role in shaping the next generation of district nurses and community practitioners through teaching, assessment, supervision, and pastoral support.

You will contribute to curriculum development, create engaging and inclusive learning resources, and take on academic responsibilities such as module leadership where appropriate. The role also provides opportunities to undertake scholarship, research, knowledge exchange, and professional engagement activities that enhance nursing education and healthcare practice.

Experience of teaching in higher education, a recognised teaching qualification, and/or Fellowship of Advance HE are desirable but not essential. Applications are welcomed from clinicians wishing to develop an academic career. About Us The University of Plymouth has a strong reputation for educational excellence and research-informed practice. Our School of Nursing and Midwifery delivers foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing professional development programmes and has achieved a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework. You will join a supportive and collaborative team and have opportunities to contribute to applied nursing research and the University's Clinical Schools initiative, helping address real-world healthcare challenges while maintaining strong clinical links. What We Offer • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements. • Competitive salary and pension options, including potential NHS Pension Scheme eligibility. • Generous annual leave entitlement. • Professional development and career progression opportunities. • Family-friendly policies and wellbeing support. • Cycle to Work and Electric Car Schemes. • Retail discounts and on-site nursery facilities.
