Summary
Want to put your coding skills to work on an app used by millions of people across England?
We’re working with a client to find junior iOS and Android Developers to help develop and maintain the NHS App.
These opportunities suit developers early in their careers who enjoy hands-on coding, solving problems and building native mobile applications. You’ll join an established multidisciplinary team, contributing to new features and improving the experience for users.
What you’ll be doing
Developing and maintaining native iOS or Android features.
Writing clean, maintainable code and appropriate tests.
Working with developers, designers, product specialists and testers to deliver intuitive, accessible features.
Debugging issues and improving application performance and reliability.
Integrating with APIs and supporting features once they’re live.
What we’re looking for
You don’t need five years’ experience. We’re interested in junior developers with practical coding experience, curiosity and a willingness to learn through their work. This could include personal projects, a portfolio or commercial development experience.
For iOS opportunities:
Practical experience using Swift, SwiftUI and Xcode.
An understanding of iOS application development and Apple’s interface guidelines.
Some familiarity with API integration, testing and debugging.
For Android opportunities:
Practical experience using Kotlin and Android Studio.
An understanding of Android application development.
Some familiarity with Jetpack Compose, API integration, testing and debugging.
For either pathway, it would also help to have exposure to:
MVVM architecture and SOLID principles.
Git, CI/CD and collaborative development practices.
Native mobile features, such as push notifications.
Background tasks, concurrency and application performance.
You don’t need experience in every area listed. We’re looking for a sound foundation in your chosen platform and enthusiasm for contributing to a team. Developers with a little more experience are also welcome to apply if they’re keen to stay hands-on.
Why apply?
Contribute to a service that makes a difference to millions of people.
Work remotely as part of an experienced development team.
Build your experience delivering and supporting native mobile features.
No security clearance required.
This is a development role rather than a training programme, so you’ll need existing coding skills in your chosen platform.
Interested? Send your CV and, if available, a link to your GitHub, portfolio or an app you’ve worked on. Please specify whether you’re applying for iOS or Android.
