Summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine to provide maternity cover within the Respiratory Department, with a particular focus on Lung Cancer services. This part-time post (5 Programmed Activities) offers an exciting opportunity to join a progressive and innovative Lung Cancer team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across Oxfordshire. The successful candidate will support the diagnosis, assessment and management of patients with suspected and confirmed lung cancer, contributing to specialist clinics, multidisciplinary team working, and rapid diagnostic pathways. The post holder will work within a department that has established the nationally recognised Rapid Evaluation and Diagnostic Services (REDS) pathway and plays a leading role in the development of community diagnostic services. The team works closely with Thoracic Surgery colleagues and provides access to a broad range of advanced diagnostic and interventional respiratory procedures. The successful applicant will contribute to the continued development of lung cancer services across the Trust, helping to improve access to care, reduce inequalities in health outcomes, and support earlier diagnosis of lung cancer, particularly for patients living in the north of Oxfordshire. This post provides an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking respiratory department involved in service innovation, pathway redesign, implementation of AI-supported lung nodule follow-up programmes, and the development of future Lung Health Check services. The role is ideally suited to a consultant with an interest in lung cancer and respiratory medicine who is committed to delivering high-quality clinical care and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
