The Opportunity

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Occupational Health Nurse to join a multidisciplinary healthcare team at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Occupational Health Nurse, or a Practice Nurse looking to develop their career within occupational health, to work in a varied clinical role supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of a large workforce.

Working alongside Occupational Health Advisors, Technicians and emergency care colleagues, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality clinical services, carrying out health surveillance, assessing fitness for work and providing advice and support to employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting occupational health assessments and health surveillance, including managing clinical escalations from Occupational Health Technicians.

• Assessing new employees and existing clients, identifying any occupational health concerns and appropriate follow-up requirements.

• Undertaking fitness-for-work assessments to establish an individual's suitability for their role.

• Providing clinical assessments and treatment advice for employees presenting with minor illness or injuries.

• Offering professional occupational health advice, guidance and support to employees and managers.

• Supporting health promotion and workplace wellbeing initiatives.

• Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team and external healthcare professionals.

• Supporting the Senior Occupational Health Advisor in maintaining and monitoring clinical standards across the team.

• Ensuring clinical practice remains safe, effective and in line with current professional guidance and best practice.

About You

We are keen to hear from qualified Nurses with an interest in occupational health and workplace wellbeing.

You may already be working as an Occupational Health Nurse or have a background in Practice Nursing or a similar clinical setting, with an understanding of health surveillance and an interest in developing your occupational health experience.

Essential skills and experience:

• Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.

• Previous experience in a clinical nursing environment, ideally occupational health or practice nursing.

• An understanding of health surveillance and occupational health assessments.

• Confident clinical assessment and decision-making skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy clinical environment.

• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and electronic database systems.

• A proactive, flexible and collaborative approach to work.

• Occupational Health qualifications or previous experience within an occupational health setting would be advantageous.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary of £35,000–£38,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

• Annual NMC registration fees paid.

• Contributory pension scheme of up to 6%.

• Life assurance.

• 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service.

• Birthday day off (non-contractual benefit).

• Discounted gym membership.

• Health cashback plan.
