Working Pattern: 5 days out of 7 (7am-3pm or 12pm-8pm)

Chef De Partie for Sodexo, you'll be a representative for Independents by Sodexo and Shrewsbury school, a leading independent school for pupils 13-18 years. We offer a top-class facility serving approximately 2200 pupils and staff 3 meals a day, 7 days per week.

What You’ll Do:
Produce, as directed, with all aspects of preparation and presentation of the food at the required times and to the Company’s standard and ensure that appropriate methods of cooking and presentation are used to maintain the highest standards of production and service.
You'll assist the craft team in delivering the prompt and efficient preparation and service of all meals to the company’ standard and client satisfaction within agreed annual budget.
You'll work with the manager and head chef to plan menus, order food and oversee the preparation, presentation, service and cleaning of the unit to the company’s and client’s standard whilst maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the unit to comply with company procedures
Replenish food and equipment to ensure an efficient and seamless service, ensure freshness, flavour and presentation.
Develop, mentor, and train kitchen staff to foster an inspiring team culture
Manage and optimise all aspects of the catering operation, including labour, food, and stock costs
Complete any administration as requested including food temperatures, cleaning schedules, delivery temperatures, stock takes, allergen information.
Assist in succession planning for the catering craft team, assistants and Kitchen porter
Raise any issues to the Head Chef and Manager in a timely manner
Maintain consistency in food quality and service standards for staff, visitors, and students
Lead menu creation and development to keep offerings fresh and exciting
Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
What You Bring:
Essential:
Experience cooking on a
large scale
Experience following recipes in a professional kitchen
Prior staff supervision or line management experience
Strong knowledge of fresh produce and ingredient preparation
Understanding of
health and safety regulations and the ability to enforce them
Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen environment
Positive leadership, professionalism, and a passion for food
Hold basic food handling certifications, including:
NVQ Level 2
Level 2 Food Safety Certificate
At least
one year of hands-on cooking experience (Training in Food Hygiene and Health & Safety provided)
Health & Safety IOSH or equivalent – Desirable
