About the Opportunity

We are currently seeking an ambitious and experienced Design Coordinator on a permanent basis to join a leading tier-1 principal contractor delivering a flagship, multi-million-pound highways upgrade scheme in the Leicester area.

In this role, you will be an integral bridge between the consulting design teams, the client, and the on-site construction delivery teams. You will ensure design information is delivered efficiently, meets all constructability standards, adheres to programme milestones, and complies with all relevant national highways standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Integration: Oversee and coordinate multi-disciplinary design deliverables, covering earthworks, structural engineering, road alignments, drainage, and utility diversions.

  • Technical Interface: Serve as the central point of contact between site operations, external engineering consultants, local stakeholders, and the client.

  • Information & RFI Management: Proactively track, manage, and expedite Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries (TQs), and design changes using the project Common Data Environment (CDE).

  • Buildability & Value Engineering: Review technical drawings and specifications for buildability, cost efficiency, and full compliance with DMRB standards.

  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all design phases strictly comply with CDM (2015) Regulations, actively identifying and mitigating site risks during the design phase.

  • Handover & Assurance: Assist with the coordination of "as-built" documentation, handover packs, and quality assurance records.

Key Requirements

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Design Coordinator, Assistant Design Manager, or a technically focused Site Engineer looking to progress into design management within civil engineering or highways.

  • Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of major highways specifications, DMRB, and standard forms of contract (NEC3 / NEC4).

  • Education: Degree, HND, or HNC in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent technical field.

  • Certifications: Valid CSCS card; formal CDM / design management training is beneficial.

  • Skills: Strong communication, stakeholder management, and collaborative problem-solving skills.
