The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Employee Relations Advisor with strong Industrial Relations experience to join our clients Nuclear & Defence team at Hinkley Point C.

This is a hands-on, site-based role suited to an HR professional who is confident managing complex ER cases, advising managers on challenging people matters and building constructive relationships with Trade Unions.

You will play a key role in ensuring fair and consistent people practices, supporting managers and helping maintain positive employee and industrial relations in a fast-paced operational environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage Employee Relations cases from start to finish, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, capability and absence matters.

• Advise and coach managers on investigations, formal hearings, appeals and the application of employment law and company policies.

• Build effective relationships with Trade Union representatives, supporting consultations, workplace concerns, disputes and escalations.

• Provide practical advice on Industrial Relations matters, helping resolve issues constructively and minimise risk to the business.

• Maintain accurate case records and documentation, ensuring compliance with GDPR and company standards.

• Contribute to People initiatives, performance management, employee engagement and continuous improvement.

What we are looking for

• Strong, demonstrable Employee Relations experience, including independently managing complex cases through to resolution.

• Practical Industrial Relations experience, ideally within a unionised, industrial, construction, engineering or major project environment.

• Experience working directly with Trade Unions and advising managers on sensitive or contentious issues.

• Good knowledge of UK employment law, HR policies and employee relations best practice.

• Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to challenge and support managers where necessary.

• The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.

• Experience within an HR or People Advisor role.

• CIPD Level 5 qualified, working towards the qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.

• Full UK driving licence, as occasional travel is required.
