Summary

The Best Connection are currently seeking a Trade Counter Assistant to work for our busy client based in Portsmouth.

Duties to include but not limited to:

Customer Service & Sales: Greet trade customers face-to-face and over the phone, understand project needs, and sell relevant products or solutions.

Quotes & Orders: Process sales orders, draw up pricing quotes, and manage customer delivery or collection expectations.

Account & Lead Management: Build rapport with local builders and contractors, and manage account bases.

Stock & Warehouse Support: Maintain trade counter displays, check inventory levels, process stock, and assist in the warehouse or yard when busy.

Administrative & Safety Duties: Handle till and card transactions, record sales data accurately, and keep the counter clean and compliant with health and safety standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience: Background in retail, customer service, and a trade/building sector.

Communication: Friendly, confident communicator who can give practical technical advice to tradespeople.

Organisation: Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and manage a busy workload.

IT Skills: Basic computer literacy to handle point-of-sale systems and stock databases.

Working hours are Monday - Friday, 0800 - 1700.

Pay rate is £15 per hour, paid weekly in arrears.
