Summary
Role purpose
Prepare nutritious, appetising meals that meet residents’ individual dietary needs, preferences and cultural requirements.
Main responsibilities
Prepare and serve meals, snacks and refreshments.
Follow residents’ dietary plans, including allergies, prescribed textures and individual fortification instructions.
Work with care staff to confirm current dietary needs and respond to feedback.
Maintain food hygiene, safe storage, temperature records and a clean kitchen.
Manage stock, check expiry dates and minimise waste.
Report kitchen hazards, equipment faults and dietary concerns promptly.
Person requirements
Experience preparing meals in a care home or similar setting is desirable.
Knowledge of food hygiene, allergens and special dietary requirements.
A relevant food hygiene qualification, or willingness to complete training.
A reliable, flexible approach and respectful communication with residents and colleagues.
Essential requirements
Food and hygiene level 1, 2, 3 preferred Experience of 1+years in a care setting Knowledge around food standards agency
