Help Shape the Future of Employment Support for Disabled People

Do you believe disabled people should have access to the right support not only to find work, but to thrive, develop and progress in their careers?

At GCIL (Glasgow Centre for Inclusive Living), we empower disabled people with the information, skills, and support they need to lead independent lives and participate fully in society.

As a disabled-people led organisation, we value lived experience and pride ourselves on delivering high-quality services that make a real impact in our communities. Communication and connection sit at the heart of everything we do.

We are recruiting for an Employability Project Lead to deliver an innovative new pilot service supporting disabled people to sustain employment, overcome workplace barriers, and progress in their careers.

Developed following GCIL's Voices at Work research, this pioneering project will provide personalised support to disabled people already in employment, helping them navigate challenges around workplace adjustments, progression opportunities, and job retention.

As Project Lead, you will manage the delivery and development of the pilot, provide one-to-one employability support, build relationships with employers and community partners, lead outreach activities, and evaluate the project's impact. This is a unique opportunity to shape a new service that could influence future employability support across Glasgow.

About the Project

This one-year pilot will provide personalised support to disabled people who are already in work and experiencing challenges that may impact their ability to remain in employment or progress within their careers.

As our Project Lead you will:

- Lead and develop the employability pilot project, monitoring progress and outcomes.

- Provide person-centred support to disabled people experiencing workplace challenges.

- Offer advice on workplace issues, reasonable adjustments, Access to Work, and career progression.

- Work with employers and partners to address barriers and support positive employment outcomes.

- Develop referral networks and promote the service through outreach, networking, and engagement activities.

- Maintain accurate records, monitor performance, and contribute to project evaluation and reporting.

- Identify learning, good practice, and recommendations to inform future service development.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong project management skills with a genuine commitment to disability inclusion and empowering people to achieve their employment goals.

Essential Experience & Skills

- Previous experience providing person-centred employability advice, guidance, advocacy or casework support.

- Experience managing and delivering projects, pilot programmes or services.

- Strong understanding of the barriers disabled people can face in employment.

- Knowledge of the Social Model of Disability and principles of independent living.

- Experience building effective relationships with employers and external partners.

- Proven success in outreach, networking, service promotion or participant recruitment.

- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.

- Strong monitoring, evaluation and report-writing skills.

- Experience maintaining accurate records and outcome data.

It would be great if you had:

- Knowledge of co-production approaches.

- Experience of lived-experience-led service design.

- Background in disability employment support, vocational rehabilitation, employer engagement or related sectors.

Why Join GCIL?

This is a unique opportunity to help develop an innovative service that could make a lasting difference to the lives of disabled people across Glasgow.

At GCIL, you'll be joining a disabled-led organisation committed to:

- Independent living

- Equality and inclusion

- Co-production and lived experience

- Social justice and empowerment

- Innovation in service delivery

You'll have the opportunity to shape a new programme from the ground up, influence future employability support and work alongside colleagues who are passionate about creating lasting change.

GCIL particularly welcomes applications from disabled people and individuals who share our commitment to inclusion, equality and empowering others.

If you're passionate about removing barriers to employment and want to be part of an exciting project with the potential to shape future services, we'd love to hear from you.
