Summary

Are you looking to develop a career in retail management? Would you be motivated in a retail role that makes a life-saving difference?

We are looking for a Designate Manager to join our retail field team covering our stores across London.

This is a Designate Manager role where frequent travel will be required on a daily basis. Travel costs will be paid for in line with our Expenses policy. You will need to have full flexibility to cover 5/7 days and working location may change on a daily and/or weekly basis. Candidates will need to be available to work 7 hours between 9am - 6pm as trading hours vary on a shop by shop basis.

This role is working across both Home and Fashion stores and will require frequent travel between stores.

What does this role involve?

The Designate Manager role enables individuals to maximise their training and development by gaining experience across different locations and fascia types with the purpose of being placed in a site when a vacancy for a Store Manager becomes available.

The Designate Manager role supports BHF Retail division within a defined geographical area until the individual is permanently allocated to a shop or store within reasonable travelling distance.

The role will normally last no longer than 18 months before the individual is assigned to a permanent BHF site. During this time, the role supports both individual development and how to maximise sales and profit by the day-to-day running of shops and stores and allows knowledge to be built across the different site models.

What are we looking for?

Previous retail experience is essential

Good commercial awareness

Experience of leading and developing teams

Ability to achieve sales targets

Committed to achieving the highest retail standards at all times

Results driven but with a recognition of right result, right way

Excellent customer service skills

Ability to build rapport with people

What’s important to us?

At the British Heart Foundation (BHF) we offer a huge range of new and used quality furniture, clothing, jewellery and more, available in store and online.

In addition to raising funds for the BHF, we connect with our local communities and help reduce clothing and furniture waste across the UK. With over 700 stores we make a huge environmental impact by preventing around 70,000 tonnes of unwanted items going to landfill every year. We receive 1.6 million items donated to our home stores and 9.8 million bags of donated items and we will continue to build upon our reuse agenda in the years to come.

Everything we do comes back to funding lifesaving research for all heart and circulatory conditions. We are more ambitious and determined than ever – because the cures and treatments we need are in sight. You could be part of getting us there sooner!

Belonging at BHF

By embracing diversity and fostering an inclusive environment, we strengthen our ability to achieve our mission of saving and improving lives, ensuring our work reflects and serves the needs of every community across the UK.
