The successful candidate will join the well-established and respected Specialist Speech and Language Therapy Service in Intellectual and Developmental Disability Services within Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust.

You will be well supported by senior colleagues, with many opportunities for peer support. The role involves close work with colleagues from a range of disciplines and the post is supported by an assistant SLT.

ICATT supports adults with intellectual disabilities and a range of neurodevelopmental conditions to live well with mental health needs. Our overall purpose is to support the individual and their carers to maintain positive relationships to avoid placement breakdown and admission to hospital.

You will be supporting this aim with your specialist communication knowledge and your understanding of the individual’s needs based on the assessments and observations you will be undertaking.

ICATT is a multidisciplinary team and you will be instrumental in the person-centred formulation of the individual’s needs and care plans by adding a functional and environmental communication perspective to the discussion (using the 5 Good Communication Standards as one of the principles of inclusive communication).

One of the strengths of the SLT role in ICATT is the opportunities to work jointly with MDT colleagues to ensure a holistic approach to care of the individual. It enables to you to be involved in the care and recovery of the individual.

We deliver intellectual disability, mental health, community health, forensic, and offender healthcare services across Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, and South Yorkshire. Our care is provided from over 200 sites, spanning community locations, acute settings, and secure environments, including prisons.

We are one of the largest mental health and community Trusts in the East Midlands and one of Nottinghamshire's biggest employers. We also host national and regional services, such as the National High Secure Deaf Service and the Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health.

We offer a variety of employee-led staff networks, including Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) groups, the Green Champions network, the Freedom to Speak Up network, the Health and Wellbeing Champions network, and the Menopause Champions network.
