Help shape the future of transport across the East Midlands
We are looking for an organised, proactive and detail-focused Programme Support Officer to join our Transport Investment Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting a significant programme of transport investment across the East Midlands. You’ll provide essential project, programme and administrative support, helping the team to coordinate activity, manage information and ensure that projects progress effectively.
Working closely with the Programme Delivery Manager and wider project teams across EMCCA and the region’s Constituent Authorities, you’ll be at the heart of the programme bringing together information, keeping processes on track and making sure colleagues have the accurate data and documentation they need to make informed decisions.
About the role
As Programme Support Officer, you will provide day-to-day coordination and support across a varied and evolving transport investment programme.
A key part of the role will be collating, processing and reviewing data to support monthly and quarterly reporting. You’ll work with potentially large volumes of information, ensuring that data is accurate, reliable and presented clearly for programme and project teams.
You’ll also support the effective management of projects by maintaining action and risk registers, coordinating meetings and events, preparing agendas and minutes, maintaining project records and supporting financial administration and tracking.
This is a role where attention to detail really matters. You’ll be expected to identify inconsistencies, raise queries and escalate issues appropriately, using your own initiative while knowing when further investigation or management input is required.
You will also contribute to developing effective processes, procedures and documentation that allow the programme team to demonstrate progress and maintain a clear record of projects over time.
What you’ll be doing
Your responsibilities will include:
• Collating and processing transport investment data to support monthly and quarterly reporting.
• Reviewing large volumes of data, identifying inaccuracies, inconsistencies or emerging issues and providing clear feedback to the Programme Delivery Manager and wider team.
• Supporting project and programme management activity across transport investment schemes.
• Monitoring project timelines, deliverables, actions, risks and key milestones.
• Maintaining accurate project files, records, registers and programme documentation.
• Providing financial administration and supporting the tracking of project expenditure.
• Managing calendars, scheduling meetings and coordinating workshops, events and other programme activities.
• Drafting clear and professional communications for internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensuring information and data is accurate, complete and maintained to a high standard.
• Working independently to manage priorities while escalating issues or queries when appropriate.
• Supporting the wider Programme Development team as priorities and requirements evolve.
Essential requirements
About you We’re looking for someone who is highly organised, analytical and comfortable working with data, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy programme environment. You’ll need to be confident working independently and taking ownership of your workload, while also being a collaborative team member who communicates effectively with colleagues and stakeholders. In particular, you will have: • Experience of supporting or coordinating multi-faceted projects, whether in a formal project management role or another relevant capacity. • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities. • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. • The ability to review and interpret large volumes of information and identify issues or inconsistencies. • Experience of collating and processing data for reporting purposes. • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, or equivalent spreadsheet software. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • The confidence to work on your own initiative and make appropriate decisions within established processes. • The judgement to recognise when an issue needs to be escalated to your line manager or another member of the programme team. • A working knowledge of project management principles. • Experience of working within governance structures and an understanding of the importance of appropriate use of public funds. • The flexibility and agility to respond to changing demands within an evolving programme of work. You will also need NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience. A degree or diploma in Business Administration, Project Management or a related subject would be desirable, but is not essential. Why join us? Our work is ambitious and focused on delivering tangible, sustainable and lasting change for communities across the East Midlands. As part of the team, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a major programme of transport investment and gain experience working across projects, data, governance, finance and stakeholder engagement. We are a values-led organisation, and the way we work is just as important as what we deliver. Lifting our region We put wider outcomes ahead of personal or organisational gain and are passionate advocates for our place, policies and programmes. Working together We build strong relationships, welcome constructive challenge and bring people and organisations together to achieve shared goals. Making an impact We turn ideas into action, make the most of limited resources and focus on achieving meaningful improvements for our communities. Being human We value different perspectives, build genuine connections and bring an authentic and inclusive approach to our work. Ready to make an impact? If you’re an organised and proactive professional who enjoys working with data, coordinating projects and making sure things happen, we’d love to hear from you. This is an opportunity to join a forward-looking team and play a key supporting role in delivering an ambitious transport investment programme for the East Midlands. Apply now and help us shape a more prosperous, sustainable and connected region. Closing Date: 10/11/2026 Proposed Interview Date: week commencing 16th November
