Summary
Make your mark as a Public Relations Account Manager in the PR & Communications sector, based in Nottingham.
PR agencies are having to move faster than ever. Clients want real-time reputation management, not a quarterly report and a hope. This is a startup built around that shift: small enough that your ideas land on a client's desk within days, ambitious enough to be competing for accounts that bigger, slower agencies used to win by default. They need a Public Relations Account Manager who can run client relationships and think several steps ahead of the news cycle.
Here's what you'll be doing:
Managing a portfolio of client accounts, acting as their day-to-day point of contact and trusted adviser
Writing and pitching press releases, briefing documents and thought leadership pieces to journalists and editors
Building and maintaining media relationships across trade, national and broadcast outlets
Planning PR campaigns from brief to delivery, then reporting on coverage and impact against agreed targets
Spotting reputational risks early and advising clients on the right response, sometimes within the hour
Supporting new business pitches with research, messaging and the occasional late night deck
Here are the skills you'll need:
A few years' experience in a PR or communications role, agency or in-house
Sharp writing skills. You should be able to turn a dry client update into something a journalist actually wants to read
Confidence managing multiple accounts and priorities without dropping the ball on any of them
A working media contacts book, or the drive to build one fast
Comfortable presenting to clients directly, not just briefing someone more senior to do it
An interest in how PR and digital communications keep changing, and the willingness to learn as you go
Key perks and benefits:
£30,000 to £39,500, depending on experience
Hybrid working, with flexibility on when and where you're most productive
Equity, so you have a real stake in what you're building
A genuine learning and development budget, not just a line in the handbook
Flat structure. You'll work directly with founders and senior clients, not through three layers of management
Why pursue a career in PR & Communications?
PR and communications work rewards people who can think on their feet and write under pressure, and demand for both keeps growing as clients treat reputation as something to manage actively, not react to. Nottingham has a genuinely strong communications scene for a regional city, with agencies and in-house teams competing for talent who can do the job properly. Get good at this and the ceiling is high: senior account roles, agency leadership, or a move client-side with a much bigger budget behind you.
